For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, so that those who believe won't perish, but have everlasting life? I just wrote that from memory, no joke, and I think it's close. I haven't been to church in awhile, and I haven't really heard John 3:16 since vacation bible school as a kid, but I still remember the gist of it. Crazy huh?
The others listed in answers, well, I have no idea what most of them say, and I certainly couldn't quote it, so I would say that for most people John 3:16 is pretty popular.

It is the most widely known and a Scripture of great import as well. John 3:16 "For God so loved the world . . . " The "world" here includes all sinners, animals, birds of the air, fishes in the seas, and all His other creation. From this verse one can know that God intends to redeem and restore humankind and all His creation to live in peace and joy and good health in the new heaven and new earth eternally (Rom 8:19-21).

I think Genesis 1:1 is more well-known, if only because it is shorter. I would say Psalms 23:1 also competes.
"Jesus wept." is also a popular saying, but I'm not sure many people could tell you where it's found.

This vers shows limitaions of God. If God Almighty has begotten son that means God had some kind of relationship with some opposit sex, to get begotten child.
If this is true then God is also perishable, then this personality is not The God Almighty, but some thing els.
How many Children God has:
Exodus 4:22 "Thus saith Jehovah, Israel is my son, even my firstborn."
Jeremiah 31:9 "I am a father to Israel, and Ephraim is my firstborn."
Psalm 2:7 "....Jehovah had said onto me (David), thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee."
ProphetJesus is a Mighty Prophet of God Almighty, and he used to worship as you can witness Muslims does.
Matthew 26:39 "And going a little way forward, he (Jesus) fell upon his face, praying and saying 'My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass away from me. Yet, not as I will, but as you will.' "
Over here Father is in the sense of Lord as before sons mentioned in Bible, (Sons means slaves or who are worshiping God Almighty).
