We're at a point right now that things are going to be bad if we stay, and they're going to be bad if we leave. But who do we have to thank for putting us in this crappy predicament? The president of the United States, of course.

Everyone talks about the horribly bloody civil war that will breakout in Iraq if we leave. NEW FLASH, PEOPLE! Its already going on ... our troops just happen to be in the middle of it.

Yeah, maybe Iraq harbors terrorists. But so does Iran and Saudia Arabia ... just to name a few. The sad thing is, Bush thought that the war in Iraq would be easy to win ... and overthrowing Saddam was. It was all the crazy after effects that no one planned on ... even though the majority of the rest of the world was able to predict the mess that this war would turn into.

If you go by your theory, Iran is more dangerous. Will, they're waiting for the OK to cross the border. Iraq is now a staging area to invade Iran. Frankly, that a bad idea, but hey Bush is in charge. If we declare war on Iran, we should leave Iraq and just Bomb the Iranians. WE might lose a few planes and our ships might be damaged shelling Iran, but the death toll for us would be lower.

Why are we in Iraq? To establish a democracy, secure access to Middle East oil and destabilize the autocracies in the region who have a strangle-hold on the life-blood of our current global civilization.

Nothing terribly important, hunh?

The only connection Iraq has to 9/11 is Saddam's training of terror groups and his support of them, plus some other light connections to Osama bin Ladin - That wasn't the big reason to go in. NO one ever said it was.

Are we going after other naughty nations? Yup. In different ways we surely are. One can only do one or two tasks at a time, after all.

The Mission WAS accomplished, oh clueless one. Saddam was out of power, his military destroyed. Now it's a NEW mission - Securing the peace. Hopefully you Libs will shut up, get out of the way, and let us do so. I know it's VERY hard for you Libs to handle such a complex idea as having one mission end and a new mission start, but there it is. You'll just have to deal with it. Perhaps you can get a third grader to explain it to you...

And they've found hundreds of WMDs in Iraq (they've used several in IEDs), plus had the guys who flew the majority of the rest to Syria testify about those, plus...Oh geez, why bother. Tell me, do you also believe Bush blew up the WTC, or are you a 'he let it happen' truther? And no doubt you also believe the Moon Landings were faked too, right?

And for those of you who blame Bush, solely, we'll just try to ignore all those speechs by the Clintons and those votes by the Congress authorizing the use of force, including half the Democrats in Congress...But why let reality get in the way of such a pleasant fantasy? To the Barricades! Quick brothers! Make another batch of giant paper-machie' puppet heads and Bush=Hitler signs! Speak Truth to Power! Then back to the coffee house for another round of free-trade coffee...

The mission accomplished sign was for the aircraft carrier who's mission in the gulf had been completed. Believe me man, nobody would "want" to be there if there wasn't a reason to stay.

That reason: There would be a bloody (on a scale far far worse than what we see now) civil war, and the blood would be on our hands. We have to try make it better before we leave.

the story they would have you believe:

...because if we left now, terrorists will take over and influence all those poor iraqis who would be mad as hell that the US left before the job was done....

the real story:

...Money, Oil, Control, Power....

Thank all those pompous American azzholes who didn't vote because they "didn't like the candidates." The morons didn't hesitate, so we have their representative running the country... off the cliffs.

I really think that G.W. Bush did what he was advised to do. I disagree with what he did and how he did it. But, I do not think that his intent was to put our troops in harms way because he enjoys making war. He did it based on intel which may have been false. If Saddam would have had a nuclear weapon, what would that have done to world peace? That guy could have stepped all over our toes, the toes of his neighbors, and could have started WWIII! Saddam probably did have a nuclear weapons program in the works. He probably was trying, even if he did not get very far. Problem is that the next round of nuts to come out on top of this mess may very well do the same thing. Look at the Iranians. Do you trust the Iranians to NOT make nuclear weapons if they can? They hang children in Iran. They have very little respect for human life. And, yes, someone in Iraq might just have nuked Israel without blinking because some of them think the Jews are a people without any right to be there. Maybe not Saddam, maybe some renegade subordinate. Who knows what might have been?

Anyway, I think Britain picked a bad place for Israel. But where else? Right in the middle of everyone who hates them. Damn. And that is the root cause of most of the trouble. Israel and Lebanon.

The problem for me with so-called Muslim fundamentalists is that they are not fundamentally Muslim at all. Muhammad didn't say kill everyone who doesn't follow our law! But some of them take a passage from the Koran and wield it like a sword and even coerce their own young people to blow themselves up and to take as many innocent civilians with them as possible, by kidnaping their children or parents and threatening them with their deaths. Insane.

We as a nation are trying to rid the world of nuclear armaments. If we do not, then eventually, there will be a nuclear war. We are in Iraq, because the nuts came out of the woodwork when we occupied Iraq. If we had left after we got Saddam, it would have become so chaotic, we would have had to go back anyway, but then it would be even more difficult. There would be no law, no government, no standard of moral conduct. It would have become a non-nation breeding terror around the world. What amazes me is that all these Muslims cannot even get along with each other! 8 years of war with Iran. Syria is a notorious fence jumper. You never know what they are going to do. Yes, Saddam was a megalomaniac. Yes, he was a tyrant. Yes, he tortured his own people. BUT that describes everyone in that region. The best thing to have done would have been to have never made war with the guy. We should have just had him killed or made him our friend. Are we saying that we could not have one guy killed? With all the resources we have at out disposal? We could have had this one guy killed and let the others sort it out. His neighbors would have taken note and stepped up their game.

There is only one way now to overcome the chaos that is Iraq. Close the borders completely. I mean no one in and no one out. Do not let them out because anyone who leaves will just fight us somehwere else, some other time. Might as well kill them there. Anyone cleric who causes trouble gets jailed. Offer rewards and visas to the US for those who turn in terrorists. Create safe zones, secure an area and keep it secure. Too many details to discuss here. Turn off cellphone systems completely. Ban radio. No internet access. No Arabic TV stations of any kind unless the news is filtered by a US representative. No Iraqi Police Squad should be absent a representative of the US Armed Forces, and I mean an American, not an Arab American just immigrated 5 years ago, but an American born of two generations of Americans, who speaks Arabic. That way, people will know they are legit. Absent the US officer and two troopers, they are terrorists. I have many ideas for a police state which is the only thing these people understand. Saddam at least knew that much. I could go on and on, but I am already sounding like and extremist myself. But what do you think would happen if we left?

I would not be bothering with the Brits, the French, the Italians, the Spanish, any of the coalition weaklings. They know what has to be done, but want to step out of the picture because they were never fully committal anyway. They want us to die to make the world safe while they sit back and accuse us of being trouble makers while they benefit without contributing!

Having said all that, the best thing to have done instead of invading is this. We should have sent one guy..one friggin guy to Saddam and said,

"Look. We don’t want trouble. Really. We are tired of war and this whole deal with Israel and the Gaza Strip and all that crap. Could you help us out? It's your country. There is really nobody better in the region to handle this mob than you. BUT. Please, stop torturing people, stop making bombs, help us create peace in the region, be good to your neighbors, sell us some oil on the cheap, and we will help you in return. We will reinstate relations with Iraq, remove sanctions, and tell Israel to shut the hell up and quit picking on the Lebanese. After all, they are our bastard children anyway since the Brits screwed everything up. We just want it to end. To improve. We understand your situation with your crazy sons. We've got children like that in prisons all over America. We know you want what’s good for everyone. After all, we are all just people trying to get though life without too much grief. How about we bury the hatchet and just start building a safer world."

He might have just taken the offer, but we never tried, did we. We were too worried about coming off as weak, instead of making an effort with the people who were in power by whatever means, by taking a stance that they shouldn’t be in power because we didn’t put them there and they don't live by our Christian law or by our Democratic form of government. We went in acting like bad asses and look at us. We have to stay. We have created a mess that is too risky to leave undone. I hate this situation. I’m tired of being treated like the trouble causing American where ever I go in the world. Man, we’ve got everybody hating us now.

G.W.? You remind me of L.B.J. You just kept on listening to the wrong people instead of thinking for yourself. The difference is, you really do not seem to genuinely feel the suffering of the American people over this whole deal. Maybe you are just posturing for the media but are really suffering in silence. We have no way of knowing. But the citizens of this country are full of contempt for your seemingly detached and pious arrogance. That's really why you are so unpopular these days. God grant you the wisdom to clean up this mess.
