Sometimes a simple Answer to a simple question would be GRRREAT,
To those who feel i should wait this is the perfect opportunity to have your OWN child and raise them as you see fit.
If i baptise my daughter in whatever religion i choose that doesn't mean she has to stay in that religion, pple convert all the time.
anyways thank you to all who answered my question & didn't try to push thier own OPINIONs....
I appreciate it VERY MUCH!

Yes i agree, i should wait until my daughter understands the meaning etc etc. but until then
I'd like to waste money, put her in a pretty white dress, take her to church and then have her baptised, I mean just for my amusement !

thank you pple =o)

Baptisim in the New Testament is for people who have decided to follow Jesus Christ. No exceptions. All you are doing in baptising someone that young is getting them WET. It is just a religious excercise that makes parents feel good....theBerean

Baptism is forever, and there's no point in having a child baptized if they're not going to be brought up in the faith.

The Catholic Church typically will not baptize a baby unless one or both of the parents have also been baptized, and at least one of them is Catholic.

The designated God-parents must also be Catholic, and a firm commitment to raise the child in the Catholic faith must be made, by all parties involved.

I work at a Catholic parish, and deal with these kinds of things on a regular basis.

If you need to discuss this further, send me an email along with a phone number, and I'll do whatever I can for you.

Catholics consider Baptism to be an initiation. If there is no indication that your daughter will be raised Catholic, and your own lack of interest is a sure sign, they will not be interested.

Why don't you have your own baptism ceremony, with family and friends, and baptize the baby yourselves? It will be just as pretty and meaningful and you won't have to go through the embarrasment of being turned down.

All baptism does is get a person wet if they do not understand what they are getting baptized for. My parents made this mistake years ago when they had me baptized a catholic. I have renounced that religion and became a born again Christian and plan to be baptized now that I have accepted Jesus as my Savior.

Baptism is only symbolic, it means nothing without understanding what it represents. Baptism has lost its meaning in the Christian religion (Catholic and otherwise). One does not have to be baptized to be saved but one should certainly become saved before being baptized......Its all symbolic, it symbolizes that one is in the process of a spiritual transformation, if its done for strictly religious purposes it means nothing.

Unless you are willing to raise your child in the Catholic faith, I would say do not have her baptized. The fact that neither you or the father are baptized catholics makes me think that neither of you are practicing Catholics.

If you are serious about the Catholic faith, all of you should get baptized.

I am not sure about the Catholic Church, but you could take your baby to most other Christian churches and they will be willing to baptize your baby. I think that the Catholics have a bunch of rules. But other christian Church's will let pretty much let any one in that wants to come in and be saved, come in and be saved.

What possible reason can there be for letting a proto-pedophile sprinkle tap water on your infants head?

Get your kid vaccinated and start a college fund. Do something that will actually make a difference in their life.

I can't beleive anyone would try to discourage you from proceeding with your faith...

Go to the church you would like to have her baptized in. Talk to the person in charge of baptisms. They will explain the process.
