After reading the other answers, I'm no longer sure what you mean. I sort of thought you meant well-off people who volunteered for Meals on Wheels or spent time with children with special needs or things like that. To which I say yes. I tried going into detail about that, but it sounds odd, because I don't actually want to give personal details. But I have known wealthy people, a lot of them, in fact, who have helped individual disabled people.

But if you mean, does Bill Gates respond if someone asks him to help pay for their physical therapy or an experimental treatment or home care---that I have no idea. I was thinking "wealthy," like people who made more money than many others, but not super-elite Fortune 500 megabucksers. I don't know any of those folks.

Clay Aiken. He was a cap case manager in western carolina before idol. He's still active in thereputic recreation (helping persons with disabilities)

There are plenty of them out there, but you rarely get to hear about it.
The reason for this is that the publicity leads to begging letters.
(David Beckham does, but he never said. It was only investigative reporting that brought this out).

They need to have a strong will.

Yes. Apply for grants if you have to... some can be hard to find but are there.
