well all cats are diffrent i wouldnt nessasarily say that something is wrong with them. while you are petting them do they move there feet up and down using their claws? this is called happy feet that means the cat is enjoying themselves. also some cats are not as vocal or as loud as others when you are petting your cat gently touch there throat if its vibrating than its purring i have a cat named tigger you cant usually ever hear him purr but you can feel it. if you are however worried though i would reccomend taking him to the vet but im sure hes fine. good luck!!

Some cats like our Skitten have a purr you can hear across the room others like Junior keep their purrs a secret. Some cats knead some don't. The important thing is that you know they are happy and you love them...

My littlest cat doesn't purr either. Don't know why and clearly this isn't helpful, but I just want to share my experience.... my cats (x2) came to me accidentally (I think they were abandoned). Anyway, 'the fat one' purrs, but has bit me and shown no affection what-so-ever, even though I feed her and love her (she's also the older one or even might be the mother of the little one). Tabby (Tabatha - the little one) has a mong eye - which I don't know how it got that way, never purrs, but is the most loving and affectionate kitty, and I would just die without her. She's the best... so at the end of the day, does it really matter?

There's nothing wrong with your cats some just don't purr where as others can purr loudly. One of my cat's has never purred in his life but he is absolutely fine seeing that he has just turned 16. So don't worry about it and I hope this has helped.

It's a myth that cats purr loud enough for you to hear you do have to listen really close to your cat to hear it purr no matter how young or old or when it was taken from its mother.

I think some cats have really light purrs just like cats have different meows. I have 3 cats that are part Himalayan and they all have light purrs. They are also all related. LOL. I usually have to put my head up to their chest before I can hear them purr.

My semi-feral cat didn't purr for absolutely ages - she was about 5 years old before I heard her purr. It was a major breakthrough to get her to purr! She will only purr if none of the other cats are around.

Some cats just dont purr I'm sorry to say, but they do show there appreciation in different ways. Its just a case of reading their signs.

I wouldn't worry about it. Some cats are louder than others when they or if they purr. We have 3 cats, and our Maine Coon purrs SOOO loud, you can literally hear him even when he isn't right next to you. Our other 2 cats aren't that loud. As long as your cat is acting like she normally does, I wouldn't worry.

hey
my cat only purrs when he kneads his teddy bear, i think he may of been taken away from mom to early, and only purrs when he feels safe and secure, like he was when he was suckling his mom. my other cat purrs all the time, i think it may just all depend on the cat, try seeing if they what to knead a stuffed animal or something seems to work with one of mine. just keep on loving them.
