why not just stick to live die and thats it?.

To admit to a higher consciousness is to give creedence to God. Ask yourself why do you not want to believe in God? Is it because of war, or killing, or evil things, because those are caused by man and his poor decisions---not God. And God could prevent them, but He gives you freedom to choose as you will. Why are you here? Why be spiritual-----you cannot prove spirituality----you cannot prove a higher consciousness-------------you are a contradiction to yourselves. "We do not believe in God because He cannot be proven." but "We will believe in a higher consciousness that we cannot prove."

Believing in a higher consciousness is not atheist, its agnostic.

To answer your question, I am here because I believe I'm here to experience and just live and love. I make friends, and I love my family. I intend to make everyone I like and love as happy as possible before I die, it doesn't matter what they believe. As a whole, I don't know why I'm here, maybe I'll find out.

Also, you need to open your mind a bit. I'm not saying stop believing in god, thats no good, I'm saying reach out to help, not to question and to despise. Not everyone is going to be right in this world, and some people are going to confuse the heck out of you, don't judge them for it, I don't believe anyone has the right to judge. I can understand why you would want to know such a thing, but remember everone is complex, and everyone has a different view of this world, and probably for a very good reason. Life changes your views of everything, it happens, its life.

There are many unanswered questions in this life. Not all can be simply answered "because God did it." We are answering more and more the questions of this universe, and none of the answers so far are God.

There are a lot of things we do not realize yet, but we can feel and in some cases know that there is more ou there that meets the eye. For instance did you know there is at least 10 dimensions. Height, width, depth, time are the ones we know. Something tells me three of the unsolved ones aren't The father, The Son and the Holy Spirit.

faith is belief. you have faith in god means you believe in god. Belief is just that...Belief. Chicken little having belief that the sky was falling doesn't necessarily mean it really was. Sure that's a cute little story but so is the bible really. People have always clinged to believing that there was something more.....Something beyond this hell called life. I find it interesting that the Greek and Roman Gods are "Myths". They believed in them with ever fiber of their being yet we say...Nah, that's Mythology, our god is real.
It's a belief, that's all it is. you either believe or you don't and it's funny to me that the religious side of the debate is always the one ready to challenge the other side. Much like you are doing now.

I am an atheist not because I don't want to believe in any god(s). There is simply no reason to believe. No reason because there is simply no evidence that supports the existence of any god(s).

No evidence = No beliefs. Very simple. Things do not exist simply because I want them to or not.

I am here to make sure some people do not mistake what atheism is all about.

Who's to say the atheists don't think what you said? Who are you to judge what they believe in or don't believe?
You are only taking some peoples words and speaking for all
atheists.
And for you being so Christian didn't the Holly Bible say-,
"Thou Shall Not Judge..."
Or did you just skip that mumbo jumbo line in the Holly Bible?

you know what...you're right. I'm going to listen to you because you seem to know everything about everything. Heck, maybe you're god. What time do you get up in the morning? I want to come and worship you. Who cares if you can't spell credence? Not me. I was an atheist for the longest time, but after reading your short paragraph on Yahoo answers, I'm going down the nearest church to confess all of my sins and pray for god's protection. Thanks god.

I hope someday stupidity will end. You have no reason to be here either, if you have faith as in without proof, why do you need to ask questions, its not like anything here can alter your faith right?
