I've always wondered if I can get diseases from sample products in the mall. For example : lip gloss, lip stick, or anything that comes in contact with saliva. If someone who's sick uses it, then I use it, won't I get sick too? What are the chances?

it totally depends on what the person has that uses it before you. but if they are sick and place things near their mouth, your chances of getting sick are higher

i tend to steer completely away from things that other people have used before me (lipsticks, eyeshadows, etc)

there are so many germs out there and you run a high enough risk just breathing the same air as a sick person let alone using cosmetics they've used....

Yes you could get sick, and if you use nail polish samples, people with fungus could use it, you use the brush and you get the fungus too. I wouldn't ever use them.
