Well there are loads of different types, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Chinese_martial_arts. As for which ones the best they are all used for different purposes, a balanced martial art of multiple techniques may offer the greatest ease of use and a wide range of technique but a specialist kung fu would kick the balanced guy's @$$ with that technique. You see what I mean? It's a matter of opinion.

There are way too many to list. On top of all the animal styles there are traditional styles that include the general Shaolin teachings, and new styles such as Wing Chun. Plus there are several hundreds of variants.
