Am I OVERWEIGHT???

Question

I'm about 5'6 and am 13 years old. I weigh 130 lbs but all of my friends think that itz cuz i gotz big muscles (for a girl). AM I OVERWEIGHT???

i dont think so...im the same height and i think im at 150 lbs and im definitely not overweight, in fact im told that i look quite good. :) i am also 20 years old however but i think i weighed about the same as you when i was 13 and i was stiil around 5'6". whoever is telling you your overweight is crazy

You are exactly average weight for your age, you don't have anything to worry about. Besides, being overweight isn't what you should be concerned about -- be concerned with developing healthy habits like diet and exercise. Especially at your age, it is important not to fix on the numbers on a scale; you are growing and there's not much you can do to change that!

You can use a Body Mass Index calculator to get a rough sense of how your body mass compares with other people your age. I am including the link below. Your BMI calculates to 21. According to the website, "If your BMI is between 17 to 22, your life expectancy is longer than average. You don't need to lose weight." It also says that women believe they look best with a BMI of between 20 and 22. So, sounds like you are right on track!

130 lbs for 5feet 6 inches is not overweight,But at the age of 13 it is little over weight.

You are 13, you are still growing. Just get lots of exercise at this age and you will grow into your body. And no, your not overweight.

talk to your doctor about it. usually girls at that age should range from 111-120 pounds. but yes height and bone mass make a huge difference also. so see your doctor about it k sweetie. remember u are beautiful at any size!
