One hypothesis is that non-believers congregate in forums with believers because they have a small grain of doubt in what they are espousing. So they unconsciously hope to read something that will give them the "aha!" moment that will allow them to cast off their non-belief.
The link below gives a nice summary of what is happening below the surface:
http://www.ex-atheist.com/from-skepticism-to-worship.html
Another hypothesis is that they are unaware that there are forums where non-believers can mingle with communities of like-minded persons, such as

As an atheist I still find religion interesting. I also find Greek mythology interesting, but don't believe in those Gods. People who are reasonably intelligent enjoy debating and discussing many subjects. I don't want to be surrounded by people who are just like me and hold all the same beliefs and opinions as me, I enjoy hearing other views on things.

Because everybody is entitled to voice his or her opinion, and some athiests - and agnostics - know just as much about religion as the so-called faithful. If you just want religious or spiritual answers that conform to your beliefs, see your minister/pastor/priest.

Because they have as much right to offer their opinions on matters of religion and spirituality as anyone else. It's called free speech.

Religion can be very exciting and provocative. Its only natural that the atheist would want to participate in this stimulating category.

You are either new to this forum or just not paying attention to the same question asked far too many times before.
Therefore, I treat your question with the contempt that it deserves. Just think about it.

I like them here if they are not hateful. Goes for everyone else. We need to respect community guide lines.

Ohh but they are!!! They just can't accept it!
Much of a persons trouble centers around their inability to consider themselves and leave the others to their own devices.
