This question demonstrates the fact that most people do not understand the true meaning of the term "faith".
Is "faith" a synonym for "hunch"? No.
The bible itself defines true faith:
(Hebrews 11:1) Faith is the assured expectation of things hoped for, the evident demonstration of realities though not beheld.
So, there must be some "demonstration" that proves the 'reality not beheld' to be "evident". One common example is the existence of God, proven by the existence of the physical universe.
(Hebrews 11:3) By faith we perceive that the systems of things were put in order by God’s word, so that what is beheld has come to be out of things that do not appear.
So, too, godly men of old saw the results of worshipping Jehovah according to God's Will. They were persuaded, and their writings contain wisdom, insight, and prophecy which continue to persuade modern humans that worshipping Jehovah continues to make sense. Modern experiences continue to verify that faith.
(Hebrews 11:1,2) Faith is the assured expectation of things hoped for, the evident demonstration of realities though not beheld. For by means of this the men of old times had witness borne to them.
(Romans 1:17) God’s righteousness is being revealed by reason of faith and toward faith, just as it is written: “But the righteous one - by means of faith he will live.”

The Son of Sam didn't have faith in that dog. lol Nice try. He was just a loon that tried to blame a dog. He knows very well that dog didn't talk to him. It's called game playing my dear. Most sociopaths do that. Anyhow, yes, I believe faith can be wrong. I never ever say I'm right in my faith in God. There's a possibility that I'm wrong and He doesn't exists. I'm willing to take that chance because I do believe in God (not religion mind you). Being wrong is always a possibility. If I'm wrong, oh well. I've been wrong before so I'll just roll with it. What choice do I have?

Obviously it is possible, or what everyone believed would be reality. Of course someone is wrong, but there is no way to know for sure.
I can't tell you that I'm not delusional because if I was I wouldn't know it. But alternatively, you cannot tell me that you are not delusional for believing what you believe.
What if my faith is wrong..?
Either I'll go to some other religion's hell, or have more lives, or some other destination if another god is merciful. If religion is wrong in general I'll become lunch for bacteria, and personally, that doesn't bother me because at least I'll die with the hope that I am more than a doomed animal, and then it won't matter.

Well let's see. I'm a Christian. I go through life trying to do the best for myself and my family that I can. I try to help others that are in need. I do not judge others. I try to do things to make the world a better place than I came into. I do to others, only what I would want done for myself.
With that being said --- So what if I was wrong. At least I spent my life contributing to my family and society in a positive way. If was was wrong, I guess I'll just be dead. However if I was correct in my beliefs, I guess I will see rewards for my efforts in this life.
Also your analogy is a bit warped as you are comparing faith in a higher being to a freak that heard his dog tell him to kill someone. He did not see that dog as a GOD or savior. A bit of a slippery slope argument.

To answer your posted question, it is not possible to have faith in something and be wrong about it. By definition, faith is "Believing in something that is true without ever having seen it." Belief and faith are two completely different things. Some of the things you mentioned are beliefs, not faith.
Your details seem to bring up an additional question which seems to be what you are getting at, "What if your faith is wrong?" As I previously stated, real faith isn't wrong.

Yes, it is possible to have faith and be wrong . Only one can be right.
If my faith is wrong, then I wouldn't care, because the faith I have has given me a wonderful life and peace in this life and I wouldn't regret anything.
That is why it is called faith: The substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

If faith is wrong then there will be eternal consequences at the end of this life. That is why it is so important to make sure your faith is right according to what GOD says is right.

Sometimes the most complex questions can be found without looking so hard.
Just look at the most intricate detail of a flower, or even a weed. A snowflake, a newborn baby., the sky full of stars. There is deffinately a God, A real , live living GOD. One much bigger than you and I.
Faith is much the same. We have faith in each breath, in each heart beat, in the gravity of the earth. It is an instilled voice that we take for granted. God is also instilled in us, but humanism and selfish desires make us deaf to that. We are all created with a body, mind and spirit. We all have a God shaped vacuum in our hearts that many try to fill with lust, addictions, you name it. But the only puzzle piece that will fill it is God. A HUGE GOD. A Loving God yes, but also a Just God. The God that our nations 'were' built on. The foundation that humanism trys to take away. And then we wonder why it is crumbling.
The only way to find truth, and faith is to search after it. Faith is never wrong. That is what keeps us alive. Like having faith the air is going to be there when we breath. The Bible says, in Hebrews 11 verse 39 " Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see." Also in James chapter 2 verse 17 " In the same way , faith by itself , if it is not accompanied by action, is dead." ( If we did not believe that there was air, and inhale we would not receive it into ourself, right?)
I had a dream once, and I know it was God who spoke to me in it. He said only a few words to me but very profound. " Believe in the Truth."
There is one thing I know for sure, and that is if you Pray and ask God to reveal Himself to you, to show you the right path, to teach you the truth. To open your eyes that you may see, and open your heart and your spirit that you may be open to receiveing the truth when it comes to you, you will find it. And the HUGE sense of PEACE that fills your whole being, like nothing else matters, will tell you that you have found it. God says, " seek and ye shall find", "ask and it shall be given unto you." knock and the door shall be opened." that is all God wants is for us to want HIm as much as He wants us. HE gave us a free will so that we can choose to Love HIm willingly. Because what is Love if it is forced. It is not Love at all.
If you are to truly seek out for yourself what and who God is. I challenge you to Pray this " God in Heaven, I come into your presence and ask you to open my eyes, my mind, and my spirit to you, and to you only. Open me so that I may know the truth , that I may have true faith in you. That I may know who the real God of Heaven is. And protect my mind after that truth is revealed God, so that I will never loose sight of it. In Jesus Name, Amen"
If you Pray this, and are sincere, you will find the Truth, and you will find out who the real true GOd is. If anything, what have you got to loose. Nothing.
May God Bless you always, on your Journey in seeking the Truth about Him, In Jesus Name, Amen.

If faith was the only requirement for being right how is it that so many people have different faith, they cannot all be right.

Of course it is possible to have faith in something and be wrong about it.
Having faith means you believe in Something, but there is no clause stating what you believe has to be the truth.
