I'm pretty depressed because over the past few months i've watched slowly as my hair has gotten thinner and thinner. the thing is my hair first started to lightly shed in the shower over the summer, and i also was on accutane for 6 months which can cause hairloss too. Since being off the stuff the begining of feburary my hair hasn't let up thinning one bit. In fact even tonight in the shower i watched as strands upon strands kept coming out. I've watched over the past few months as my once thick full set of hair now is much thinner. I have receding hairlines on both sides of my scalp and at times the hair in the front isn't able to cover the entire area so i have open sort of bald spots on the sides. also on the crown of my head there is a bald spot forming as the hair is ultra thin now and at times you can see right through it to the scalp. my father and brother have thick full sets of hair while my mom has suffered baldness so it figures i have no luck. im thinking of shaving it off.

Have you talked with your dermatologist about the hair loss and that the medication might be causing this problem? He might be able to suggest something to help stop the loss. If he cannot then if I were male and my hair was thinning so much that scalp showed in many places, I too would shave my head. I feel for you because I am always afraid of my hair getting thin. I have had really thick hair my whole life, but now that I am getting older and many women experience hair loss with age this thought terrifies me. My husband has a hair loss problem and so does his younger brother as well as their dad. It started earlier on his brother than it did my husband. You mentioned that your mother had hair loss problems as you probably know this problem is hereditary. Maybe if you shave your head and after the medication leaves your system your hair will regrow back to the hair it use to be. I still would have a chat with my doctor and see what he thinks. Good luck....

well i should say that shaving your head is trend and personally i think guys look good with shaved heads. on the other hand, if your still not to sure about doing that i suggest you use a shampoo made of chile. one of my cousins was going bald after she had her baby and got really sick afterwards. after having a head full of thick curly hair she was left with practically thin curly hair with a couple of bald spots to be seen here and there. she used the shampoo and now she has nice hair, although i should say is not as thick as before but no bald spots are visible. i also tried it myself once after an accident with my hair (which is a long story) and really helpe me as well. you should try a coupe of months and if you see no results then you should opt for shaving, and don't worry about it, you know you'll look good ( i think all guys do). good luck!!!!

yeah, you'd best shave it off and let people get used to it, unless you want to suffer the sad torture of balding.
