THE Tanak, or Old Testament is a collection of selected writings composed and edited by members of the Hebrew-Jewish community between the twelfth century B.C. and the beginning of the Christian era. It includes such diverse materials as prophetic oracles, teachings of wise men, instructions of priests and ancient records of the royal courts. Some material is historical, MUCH IS LEGENDARY; some is legalistic, some is didactic.

Like all religions, all the evidence for it is speculative and highly unlikely, if not impossible. There is no evidence for a miraculous God. No one has ever seen a miracle (In the strictest sense of the word) and believing in God, therefore, is un-reasonable and not logical.

There is no Egyptian history of the miracles of God, or the plagues, or even the Hebrew people (just a smidge)... The only account of all these supposed miracles is in the recorded oral-traditions of an ancient, nomadic and superstitious people.

Ronald, you dink.
There is not one misspelled word in my post. The information is clear and concise. You obviously are hell-bent on proving my theory of a genetic causation for religious-types.

...and William,
prove it. You cannot even prove a little bit. I celebrate Halloween, that doesn't mean that I believe in curses!

Traditions are no evidence of anything. Superstitions and myth have been celebrated, however, since the beginning of time.

WD,
People like you are the problem.
I challenge you to provide evidence for any miracle at all. I used to be in the church and hear stories of miracle after miracle... I used to attend deluded Jesse DuPlantis' church from time to time and heard about hundreds of miracles.

No evidence for even one has ever surfaced. Not one. Cancer being healed is not a miracle. Cancer goes into remission all the time.

I'm talking about a leg growing back, water into wine, pillar of fire, outrunning a chariot, making a she-bear come outof the wooods and devouring a herd of smartypants children... Miracles like you read about in the myths and legends of the Bible.

Show me!

Bad Bus Driving Wolf,
Just do a search on "Ron Wyatt Hoax" to find out the truth about these so-called discoveries - I swear you Christians and your propensity to believe anything that appeals to your desires for Xtianity to be true!!

Remember those excavated "Giiant" bones that were unearthed? Remember those pictures that Xtians used as "evidence" for the giants of the Bible?

Pure HOAXES!

Well, aren't you projecting? I see all this seeming 'wise' writing and yet it is so presumptive, while attempting to sound sure of something. In itself, it is using rhetoric to create its own 'legend.'

"There is no evidence for a miraculous God. No one has ever seen a miracle (In the strictest sense of the word)"
. . . you mean YOU haven't seen any miracles. Here's why.
1) You wouldn't know one if you saw one.
2) You wouldn't admit to one if you knew of one.
3) God never did too many miracles for people who were willfully arrogant.
Besides that, You act like you've been everywhere, and seen everything. Just because God doesn't waste his tiume for you, you think that you can speak for everyone.

I've seen miracles, so that makes you wrong about that. Someone has seen miracles, and you weren't there. Sucks to be you.

"There is no Egyptian history of the miracles of God, or the plagues, or even the Hebrew people "
Oh thank you. So, we've found everything that there is to find? That's very kind of you to let us know that. Again, just because you are not the center of the universe, you think that it doesn't exist.

It sounds like you asking if the biblical accounts written in the book of Exodus is a legend or epic, perhaps like the Odyssey.
You seem convinced that they are just stories. I would respectfully disagree. First you might consider that the Egyptians had their own gods and wouldn't be interested in the God of the Hebrews. The kings mentioned in Exodus did exist and that is historical fact. Miracles are by their very nature beyond logic, or they really wouldn't be miracles. Finally if the ten Commandments given to Moses is just a story, it sure did have one heck of an impact on history.

No the stories of Moses are not a legend because it is spoken also in the holy qur'an.I saw his tomb in a mosque at a place out of Yerusalem.Moses was a true prophet and he received old testament and 10 commandements from Allah the only one God.
He saved all jews from the cruel king Fir'aun and brought them from Egypt accrossed the read sea to the Palestine. He had 9 miracles from Allah such as with his stick he divided the sea water,he made 12 water springs flowing out of the big stone. He c made a big snake by throwing his stick. His hands was shown brightly.

Then why do the Jews still celebrate the Feast of the Passover, God's miraculous deliverance from Egypt, as they have consistently for nearly 2500 hundred years? It is because it was a historical event, and Moses was a historical figure, and the history of the Jews can be traced back to their sojourning in Egypt, just exactly like the Bible says. It is history, not myth.

my dear that is a bunch of nonsense. What do you mean noone has ever seen a miracle (in the strictest sense of the word) - what do you call a leg lengthened before peoples eyes without any human intervention (except prayer)? Or food that multiplied to feed 150 people (again I saw it with my own eyes). Or x-ray proof that the Doctor's can't explain of a back healing. Or the child pronounced dead and 2 days later was being taken to the cemetery in a coffin and God raised him back to life (again documented). Good heavens, if you don't believe it is because you are truly blind. These are but a very tiny portion of many outstanding miracles of our day. How do you think these things happened if there is no God? I believe the Bible is THE Word of God because it has proven itself over and over and over again to be true.

Wrong, the chariots from Pharaohs army have been found under the water in the Red Sea. If you want proof do a Google search on a man called Ron Wyatt who found them. You might be surprised at what other "legendary" stuff he found too.

The text below is the one which shows why you won't miss out on God judging you.

The Bible is the Word of God, so the stories about Moses are very real. I know a man that had MS and with alot of prayers, he doesn't have it anymore, that was a miracle. Everyday miracles go on around you, you just chose not to believe.

Many of the stories of Genesis, including the flood, can be traced back to Canaanite religions through the Ugaritic texts. The god of the Old Testament even seems to have been lifted from the Canaanite pantheon, and many of the gods of the Canaanite pantheon show up in the early text of the Old Testament, including Baal, Asherah, and El. El was the chief deity of the Canaanite religion and presided over the Great Assembly of 70 national gods, in the OT El gets translated simply as God. Even the Great Assembly shows up in the OT (Psalm 82:1).

And you believe something someone else wrote? Look the Bible, Scripture, or whatever you call it is true. Events HAVE been proven.

This book has backround information of the Bible and the archeogical evidence. Besides, if you had lost a lot of slaves to the God of those slaves, would you want to talk about it?
