Knowingly, probably not. But I have to say that in certain situations you end up acting before thinking (and thus you really could end up dying for your dog). Let me explain why...
When my French bulldog was a puppy we were waiting for a train (we live in Europe and this is the main mode of transportation). I was sitting on a bench holding her leash when I realized I needed something out of my purse. I was momentarily distracted while I rummaged through my purse. In the meantime, my puppy saw an empty plastic bottle laying in between two of the tracks and lurched towards it (pulling her leash out of my hands). She jumped down on the tracks and honestly, I think I lost it for a moment. I screamed her name and then jumped down on the tracks to grab her. I'm pretty sure that I glanced to make sure a train wasn't coming in that moment (there was already a train on the other track parallel to the one where my dog was) but only afterwards I realized just what a risk I had taken (without even consciously realizing it). I started shaking and had to sit down (& I ended up not taking my train after all). My poor clueless puppy had no idea what I was so upset about!

I know that 2 of my 4 dogs would die for me. It is hard to say weather I would die for them. Aside from my 4 dogs I also have 3 human children. I know that I would die for my kids.
But I would have to say I wont know the answer to dieing for my dogs until I was in the situation. More and likely probably so but again don't know until I am in that situation.
I am just being honest. I love my dogs and would do anything for them. My Children come first.
That does not make me a heartless IDIOT.

My dogs are my kids. I love them to death. I don't believe a dogs life is less important than a humans. I believe it is a life GOD created, and every DOG should have a chance at a great life. A huge part of me would die with my dogs if they passed. If they were being attacked by a bear or a wolf... you bet I would step in and fight to my death for my babies. I also know they would do the same.

Yes, because I almost did, Not saying I would have died if the car would have hit me, but I jump in front of a car to save my dog . Lucky for me , he was able to stop. I really do think my dogs would die for me too. With an animal sometimes there is a bond only you and him know about.

I would die for my dog...I don't have to worry about whether she would die for me....she would. We are closely bonded and we can even look at each other and know what is being said. I use sign language on her and that is great. I am hearing impaired . I got my coonhound mix dog over 3 1/2 years ago. She was 12 wks old and at the humane society. I have looked for over 2 years trying to find the dog meant for me. She was it. I planned on training her to wake me up when my alarm went off. I AM NOT LYING TO YOU....the first morning she reached over and pawed at me until I woke up....yes, the alarm was going off. Everyday since then that is her job. How did she know to do that? My gift from God. I would die for her!!! I love you, Sadie

Well if I have to think about it no. He's a dog. But I know if I saw a bear of a mountain lion or even a pack of dogs attacking him. I would defend him, and that might cost me my life. But my stupid dog would do the same for me too.

My dogs are trained in protection work and would die for me. They are between me and the bad guy every week.. Like a police dog... this is their job... I expect them to do it well...
If someone were to try to kill my dogs I would fight them to the death but would not jump off a bridge in freezing waters to save one.... got the drift yet???
there are always circumstances.... always

I would say I would die for my dog as I nearly did for someone else's. I am not trained as fire fighters and police to not help animals I act on my heart.

I Love my Dog like a Son...so Yes I would die for him.
If a situation came up where my Family was in danger, he would die for us.
But I can see by some of the other answers...there are a lot of no heart, unfeeling idiots in this World!
Like the ones who gave a thumbs down to me and all others who said they would die for their Dogs! My Dogs life is worth much more than those no heart, unfeeling idiots!
