Okay, if we choose by our freewill to become a servant of the Lord, we have indeed excercised our free will at the point of that decision. But as you say we are not our own and are the Lord's. However, we still have the flesh and still have our freewill in our flesh. If we live in the spirit we will naturally do the will of the Father and not our own. It is a daily battle and even after salvation we do have freewill, but the outcome depends on who we yeild to that day-flesh or spirit. So the answer is yes we are supposed to, but the fact is, no we do not always do it.

You seem to have grasped the main point exactly.
Giving up free will, of your own free will, means that when you are old enough, and that you make the choice to accept another universe and its conditions as being so much better or worse than Earth that you belong there, not here.
But you can't get there--so you "simulate" otherworldly conditions in a monasteryt with by giving up this world for another, reason for faith and getting away from wroldly conditions as much as you can for now.
So, you decide to obey the orders of some mystic knower("religio"-announcing) leader who you will nthen obey in a monastery setting along with others.
Sorry, but outside of a monastery, you couldn't claim to be any more religious than anyone else is since you'd still be living under primarily thisworldly conditions no matter what you said you believed.
But even in a religious legal-otherworldly community apart from the world you must still also retain the right to leave that monastic community any time you choose, if you believe your leader's version of the better otherworld to be false or you've decided thisworld is where you belong.

Paul said "I die daily" - to be a "love (agape) -slave" of God is an everyday decision. It is not a one time thing that is forever settled. Each day I must choose to make Him LORD of my life. I must crucify "me" and choose to let His Will rule in me. That is the exercise of free will. But that free will has many choices to make within that framework. I become a partner with God and an heir and joint heir with Christ. There are many decisions that must be made and it becomes a very exciting life to live!

No, we don't forfeit free will, for we're still ABLE to sin even though we've become Christians! Due to the fact we're MORTAL, the POSSIBILITY of sin still exists within us. Our choice NOT to sin and maintain our relationship with Christ through His salvation plan and our prayer, study of his Word and worship is what enables us to call ourselves Christians. but we forfeit that crown of righteousness when we sin after having become a Christian and have to seek God's face for forgiveness again. The Scripture calls it "doing your firstworks (repentance and etc.) over again".

Well, we do choose to try to follow God, and as anyone who is honest will admit, every day we fall away and mess up and we have to pick up again and at any time we could choose to turn away. We definitely make choices, because if we didn't we would no longer be sinful.

I rather be a slave or a servent to God because when we do his will he will give us the crown of life and live in paradise in heaven than to follow satan to a fiery hell for all eternity.
