You have to get rid of those thoughts before you lay down for bed. Try to remedy those things before you want to go to sleep; get a pad and paper and jot them down, that really helps, if you can talk them out, do it. But if you try to go to sleep with too many things on your mind your not going to fall asleep until your exhausted from thinking too much.

If I'm thinking about thing that need to be done I write it all down on a note pad. That way I don't feel like I'm going to forget anything. If I cant stop thinking about events from the day, I lay in bed and play a hand held card game until I fall asleep. It helps to stop me from stressing over what cant be changes.

I know this sounds lame but it works for me and it's what I tell my boyfriend to do when ever he can't sleep. Just stay still. Completely still, close your eyes and you will fall asleep before you know it. Reading always makes me tired so you could try that. Sometimes I turn the TV on but put the volume really low. That puts me to sleep. You could also try getting a peaceful noise maker. Sometimes a consistant noise will put you to sleep. I really hope you can figure this out so you can sleep. Good luck.

Write all your thoughts down in a journal before going to bed. If you do not like writing, then try talking outloud, into a recording device - or to a pet. Also drink something hot, like tea or milk - if you choose tea, make sure it has no caffeine.

also, prevent yourself from having the energy to think a lot, by staying very active during the day. Go for a long walk/jog before or after dinner.

1) Drugs. Tylenol PM if you're a lightweight, Ambien if you can get a scrip.
2) Weed. The stickier the better, but don't recommend chronic 'cause the hallucinations can be fascinating.
3) Herbal tea. Sleepytime is actually pretty helpful. Of course drink too much of it, and you'll be up all night peeing... so it's all about balance.
4) Booze. I like Scotch, but beer makes me sleepier. It also makes me chubby. Do I look fat in these pants?

I'm sorry, I digress...

4) Self-hypnotization. Learn how to do it. It's fabulous when you get it right, and can be used consistently to kick all that cr@p out of your head so you can sleep. I'm serious about this one. Check it out.

and really.... these pants.....me.... fat?

Yes------I used to have that same problem all the time----but since I started praying for everyone each and every night-------I almost always fall asleep now even before I get all the prayers finished----have to finish when I wake up now--------WOW-----it's great! I have never slept so good before------been doing this for almost 3 months now.

I have this problem. I know it's cliche, but I count. From one up. I usually get to about 350 before I drop off. It's really just an exercise to block out the other things on my mind.

Think of 1/3 of a ton of stuff and you'll go to sleep three time faster.

I pray....sometimes I get side tracked while I am praying...but I always refocus. I sometimes fall asleep before I close my prayer and feel a little guilty when I wake up....it works for me.
