The very meaning of Love is God. God is Love.
The Bible says "The wages of sin is death. But the gift of God is Eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. " And the purpose of Jesus Spreading his own arms willingly to die on the cross for us, is proof of that. True Love is to lay down your own life for a friend. Jesus didn't want us to have to take that sacrifice ourselves. So He willingly chose to do it for us. All He asks is that we believe that He did do it for us. The Cross is the Bridge that carries us across the abyss from Hell to Heaven. Those who choose to not believe in Jesus will choose the other direction. Just like your mother always said. There is right, and wrong, no in between. And so it is also in this case. You are either sitting on the fence or not. And Jesus is alive. He rose again from the dead, 3 days after he Died, having victory over the grave. So He will also return for us Himself someday soon to take those of us who do believe in Him , Home to live with Him in Heaven. Because as we all know, this earth is not going to last forever. And He has Heaven prepared for those of us who choose Him. When the time is right. IT could be any time too. The Bible says , " He will come like a theaf in the night!" When we least expect it. So that is why it is so important to get off the fence and deside what it is that you do believe in.

You will not be punished for asking the question. What you do with the answer is what will determine your fate.
Karen has spelled out most of it for you. But there is more.
He came first as a feeble man. He took the place of all feeble men on the cross to pay the price of sin for all mankind. He was the sacrificial Lamb. He will come back one more time. And this time he will come back as the Conqueror, the King that the Jews have been looking for all these centuries. No force in Heaven, Hell or on earth will be able to stand against him because his weapon will be the Word, that very same Word that created the universe in the first place. He will gather up all the people living and dead and pass Judgment on them. When he looks at the Christians, He will not see the sin upon them, for it has been washed away by His own blood.
The others will all see Him for who He truly is and will all fall on their knees and call him Lord. But it will be too late, and they will be eternally separated from God.
Then He will remake all of the universe anew and it will be a place of eternal light and joy.
And now you know. Karen has shown you the way. I have told you what is coming. What you do now will determine your fate.
If you want to know more, you have but to ask. Seek and ye shall find Him.
