Skiing is the thing to do in March in Banff. There is also the hot springs you can go to visit or swim...they have underground caverns that you can go into and see there too. There is hiking, snowshoeing, etc. I doubt you could get out for a game of golf at this time of the year though.

When I was there, I woke up the first day to elk grazing on the front lawn of the Banff Inn. Everything in town was in walking distance, but if you want to go skiing, you will need a shuttle bus or car since they are a ways out of town. The nicest hills out there for skiing are Sunshine Village and Lake Louise. If you have asthma, be sure to bring your pump because the higher elevation and exercise may trigger an attack.

There are several motels and hotels located along Banff Avenue at the entrance to the town that cater to tourists and skiiers. Picking just about any of them along there should be affordable and just a few blocks away from the shopping and restaurants.

As someone else mentioned, the big fancy resorts are the Banff Springs Hotel and the Banff Park Lodge.

Banff is a resort town that revolves around the outdoors, skiing in winter, golfing and hiking in the summer.

ski or take the waters-March is still too early for much else. Banff Park Lodge is the obvious place to stay, but cheap it ain't.
