Not really into religions, but I'll answer the question.

I think that it may be good for encouraging people to realise that the people in the church down the street are people to- not evil, not better or worse- just people.

In America, there is so much animosity between the different religions and churches. Even those of us who choose not to participate (because of the hateful attitudes) get sick of the self-righteous, "god loves us better than all of you" attitudes. I wish they would all be forced to get to know each other and learn that they are not as different as they think they are.

This idea may serve to bring the citizens of the country together and reduce the level of hatred that emanates from churches.

being a Christian in the USA, I don't believe in mixing Church and State (government). So to me, its wrong to use tax money for a Church, no matter the cause. For the government does not come to the Church for money.

If that's true, It's sad that people need to be bribed to be religious, although that should show you that you are probably following the wrong religion - keep looking and researching and praying for enlightenment from God, through His son, Jesus' name- it will happen ! I guarantee it !

Last time I was in Bangkok, I had a tour guide who explained that it was common for young men to spend a few years in a monestary to learn life skills before getting married.

I thought that was a voluntary effort?

Let us pray in agreement that they shall not be deceived and that they will come to know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. In His precious name. Amen.
