Ok, so I just started this whole Y! Answers. I don't really understand the whole thumbs down thing. Now if someone gives a completely wrong answer to a straight forward yes/no, then they should get a thumbs down right? But if you are offering your opinion, as long as it is not derogatory, racist, or prejudice in any way how can people give you a thumbs down? I see a lot of good answers out there with thumbs down. Why? I mean if it's an opinion how can it be wrong?

I've been answering questions for some time now (not as long as others), and I don't mind it a bit...I know it to be totally subjective.
Only those Level 2 or above may give "thumbs"...that doesn't prevent someone with very little knowledge or maturity from chiming in with their "thumbs" rating...though the answer may be absolutely true, and expressed wonderfully.
Don't give it too much thought...

There been 2 in person thumbs up I gained assuming that meant we are ok each and every little thing basically gained one thumbs down in person. Im going to take those very heavily or to truly any further truthfully this is not like it is going to result my genuine existence!!!

The thumbs up or thumbs down is to indicate if someone thinks that it is a good answer or not.
At least that is the way I see it

the thumbs up/down thing if for the population of yahoo answers to vote on the answer. if they like it, thumbs up. if they dont thumbs down. Just becase it is thumbs down does not mean it is wrong, just that "it wasnt liked", or it could be better.

People may not like your opinion. Sometimes your opinion is the right one, but people don't think the same. If you know the truth, good! Hopefully other people know the same. I've been downvoted a couple times for answers I was sure was right. Don't take it so heavily.

Some folks just do it because the answer doesn't agree with their own opinion. This is called an "open forum". Welcome to America!!
