Rhetorical question. The bible is a STORY derived from historical fact. Not a history book.

for example Noah's Ark. It was a King who sailed his livestock down a river after a flood wiped out his village. Not a World Wide flood that wiped out life except Noah and what he brought.
Like I said. A Story derived from fact

Which is weirder? Truth or fiction?

Since you cannot show who authored the bible or that passages like Matthew 28, Mark 16, Luke 24, John 20-21 actually occurred, you certainly cannot call it non-fiction.

Isn't the cornerstone of your religion faith. Belief in the absence of proof?

The bible is most definitely fiction.

No. It should be labeled as word of mouth handed down through the Hebrew culture. It has some historical significance but is mostly about one cultures viewpoint of humanity (a very self centered viewpoint at that). The new testament is different because it was put together at a much later time in history, it is more based on personal opinions and conjecture.

Of course it is Non-Fiction for those who are not blind you can even see that it is still answering questions that we have now days things that it says would happen in these days are really truly happening for like one the exact date that Jerusalem would become a nation again back in the 1950's it tells it if you look for it in the bible you just have to look for it and do the math problem to see that it told the exact date that it would become a nation again Now how could the bible tell of the exact day that that would happen with out some help
Sciencetis have helped use it to solve problems that they have not been able to work out any other way they have had to use the bible to help them work out problems so if it has told History and has told Scientific things so now you tell me if it can tell both of these types of questions is it or is it not Non-Fiction with out even saying it is or not

The bible should be categorized by what it really is, "RELIGION". All religious texts, be it the Koran or the Bible should be labeled this way.
A book on Global Warming wouldnt be fact or fiction, it would go somewhere between science and politics. :)

It is interesting that you would take revelation and term it non-fiction or fiction since it is neither. It is revealed knowledge that is not derived by observation.

For example, the bible talks about God who may be truth or may not. But is God fiction or non fiction. Both fiction and non fiction require observation. We know if something is non fiction, we can validate that by our observation. If it is fiction, we can validate that as well. But how do we validate that we can not observe?

You hear the voices of the prophets, it is fiction or non fiction? The bible documents those words which is neither fiction or non fiction. Bibles are for believers.

I don't think the bible should be labeled any way.
The individual who reads it should label it the way they choose.
If you read it and tend to think it's fake, then hey you can consider it fiction if you like, same thing for believers of the bible, you can label it non-fiction if you choose.
Either way, the bible is here for those who choose to read it, not to label it.

No--since the Council of Nicea it really has been altered from the original. I hate to tell you this, but even non-fictional works are open to criticism. And the bible does not have a bibliography, or footnotes, or references. SO unless you can read Aramaic, Ancient Greek and Latin, or have access to the Dead Sea Scrolls, you are really going on faith.

Having read your other responses, such as this one to a gay teenager attempting to tell his parents he was gay: "are you sure you're gay? maybe you are confused. go watch some porn and then you'll be straight. otherwise. don't tell them. but pray pray pray.", I am not surprised you'd ask such a question. Do you recognize your own hypocrisy or have you created such a fog of ignorance around yourself that you can't see at all any longer? Beyond the fact that homosexuality is NOT a sin in the least, how do you- as a believer in the Bible- actually conclude that one sin would resolve another? You're scary, seriously.

WOW, Ibis! What an awesome response!
