I go to church because that's where the Mass is celebrated. Of course, I can also pray alone at home, and I do, but there is something very special about banding together with other believers and professing our belief in Christ. For Catholics, celebrating the Holy Eucharist is a very important part of our religion, and that can't be done alone. It requires a community of faith assembling together.

I hope you use better language skills in your article than you are using on this question. Text Message language is meant for cell phone messages, not for here.

People go to church to various reasons, but for the most part, with the exception of the JWs, they go to worship and to be seen worshiping.

JWs, on the other hand, their congregations are not places of worship, but places of learning. To them, worship is not a group event. It is personal, to be done at home, alone. Remember what Christ said who was more blessed, the man praying at the eastern wall, or the man doing so at home, alone, for no one to see?

As a cab driver, I've often taken people to church, and it often seems like a game of who can look better than anyone else. On approach, its "Look at what she wearing!" Of course, we don't get many witnesses taking cabs to the congregations, as they usually live quite close to the one they attend, while in other religions, I've take people past churches of the same religion, to one further away, because it has a better preacher, bigger church, or because there are not enough people of certain skin colors in the closer church.

If you want, depending on when your report is due, I could ask some passenger why they go to church and record their comments. Afterwards, I tell them that they have been recorded and ask for their permission to publish the comments. It would give you a very honest account of their thoughts.

The Word of God says "do not forsake the assembling of yourselves together as the manner of some is,so much more as you see the day approaching." --- Obedience becomes the motivation. Then there is the motivation of love: for fellow believers (fellowship with those of like faith), for God (worship and discipleship together). There is a corporate blessing attached to the assembly of believers where the Presence of God is in the midst of two or more and the manifestation of the Spirit edifies the body of Christ together. It requires responsibility and accountability to be in your place supplying what your calling in the body of Christ is, thereby adding by personal participation the increased level of anointing to the whole. It is easy for satan to "pick off" a lone sheep, but it is harder when close to the sheepfold. In a multitude of counselors there is wisdom. God commanded it, God blesses it, God provides protection and growth in it and God uses it as His hand extended to a fallen world. The pool of resources is greater with many than with one. Thereby the needy are provided for, the Gospel spread more effectively, care ministries developed and outreaches made possible. It also gives an effective avenue for individual Christian's to develop their ministry gifts and use them in the Kingdom.

To worship God. Going to church isn't required to worship Him, but the act of giving up 1 or 2 hours a week for Him is

To learn/ study with a group, to get new views on the Bible and it's readings/ verses, to pray for others publicly, edify/ strengthen others and because the Bible tells us to seek out other true believers.
I used to go b/c my past ignorant religion said that going to church on sunday is necessary to be saved- especially on christmas and easter- which are both pagan holidays established by Constantine and the Roman Catholic Church.

People go to church for many reasons, but there is only ONE RIGHT REASON. TO gather and worship God.

Other personal reasons.

1 - Potential Gf or Bf in church so go and get cosy.
2 - Socially inept, wants a place of refuge.
3 - Relatives in church, need to go to show support.
4 - No where else to go.
5 - Afraid of going to hell, better believe in something, anything.
6 - Fashion
7 - Get to mix with relatively docile and humble people
8 - Get to show off to lesser individuals
9 - Wants to research on religion
10 - Easier to get socially accepted

Many others.

People go to Church for different reasons. I use to go to Church because I had to because my parents made me go. I thought that it was boring. When I got old enough, I stopped going. I married a woman who went to Church because she believed in God and believed that if she would go, it would appease God. It was her duty and it made her look good in other people's eyes. After we got divorced, I found a real realationship with God. Now I enjoy going to Church because I go to a Church that teaches the truth. It is fun and exciting because we never know what is going to happen and we love God with all of our being,

I go to church because we have great praise and worship and I love to sing to the Lord, He really has brought me joy and singing and praising Him is really fun and a special intimate time with Him.

They are good bible teachers, I sit and listen and learn...and I can walk out lifted up, edified, encouraged, warned, chastised, a hundred different things that God wants me to know.

I love the people in church. They are devoted to Jesus. I admire and learn from them. We pray together and we love the Lord together. It's a wonderful time and I am grateful for it.

Where two or more meet in His name there He is. Where two or more meet in agreement for anything in His name there He is.
Going to church is standing in agreement with each other that God is ever present and worthy to be praised. Going to church is surrounding yourself with like minded positive people and supporting each other in His holy name. Going to church is gearing yourself for the obstacles that will come. Going to church is a way to get His word from an authority who can deliver it in a flawless way.

Church is God's home! We go to church for reflection, where we can find inner peace, love and faith! It's a place where we ask forgiveness. It's our home! God bless!
