Well...I think of Pilate. He said to Jesus, "don't you know I have the power to crucify you, or set you free?" Jesus answered, "you would have no power over me that my Father in heaven would not give you". So no...I do not believe that ultimately any human has any power not given to them by God.

Because Jesus said it first.

I believe that if there is nothing but this physical world, then we do not have control, our feelings of freedom are an illusion and we are nothing more than really complex organic molecules following the rules of chemisty and physics.
If there is something beyond this physical world, and we are in some way connected to this something, then it is possible to have control over some aspects of our lives in the finite.
If Christianity is true, we would not be punished by a just God if we were not free to make the choices for which we are being punished.

only our free will --- our right to choose and our right to exercise our will --- those are the only things that we truly have personal "control" over
