He could have done that a long time ago when Adam and Eve sinned. Just destroyed them and started over.
But all that would prove is that God has POWER.
It would not show his prime quality...Love...and the other qualities, justice and mercy.
Anyone can use a big stick.
Very few can convince others to change their ways,
Also, the angels who also have free will, were looking on,
God set up a system whereby the descendants of Adam and Eve, even though suffering death and sickness. would eventually use their own free will and make a decision to obey God, simply because they Love him.
A bit like a wife obeys her husband, without really understanding the reasons why the husband does things.

You should read the Parable of the Wheat and Tares, which addresses this issue. The sower does not want to pull out the weeds now because they would uproot the good wheat. Rather they will all be collected and separated at the harvest.

2 Peter 3:9 says, "The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance."

I'm assuming you meant God as understood by Christian traditions, because that's what most people here mean by "God."
