Thinking of CO2 emissions.

ideamanbmg - unfortunately the world we both live in is the same and the atmosphere is not a sink into which any amount of CO2 can be emitted without consequences.

It most certainly is not.

For example, simply turning the water off during lathering in the shower and at the sink, and using horizontal-axis (laundromat-style) washing machines alone save a lot of water and energy.

As far as CO2 emissions go, sharing rides, using a bike, or trying out public transportation really makes a difference. So often we feel like, "oh, I'm just one person. How could I possibly affect the environment?," but the problem is that too many individuals feel this way. Granted, in Los Angeles, for example, public transportation is really not up to par, but this doesn't mean that we can't ask a coworker for a ride, or add some mileage to the old Huffy.
Also, turning off lights when you leave a room, and a computer when you're finished with it, and unplugging your appliances when you go out of town all save needless CO2 emissions. These are all so easy! Why not do them? You'll also save a ton on your electric bill!
Also, fertilizer use is a major contributor to nitrogen emission, so cut down on your application of it! Pure and simple.

Most people don't realize that greenhouse gas emissions come from more than just the exhaust pipe on your Camry.

It's all very easy. You just have to make the effort.

Good question!

Not any more than it is actually all that necessary. You would have as much success trying to convince all the trees to stop emitting Co2 in the nighttime.
You can downsize your little world if you want. Leave my world out of yours.

No. A significant change, yes. THe main thing we could do thats easy is to use cars with better milage.
