I don't have the space to answer this. In the new testament alone are hundreds of promises to those who believe in God. Instruction, comfort, guidance, warnings. In the Old Testament? Proverbs, psalms. For wisdom and comfort, also. Daniel, Isaiah, other Old Testament books? Prophecy...telling us of things to come.

Thousands of things that we can study day and night all our lives to enrich us, to draw us closer to God, to reveal to us His son, to plant our feet on the rock of His word.

It does have fairly of relevance, only no longer sufficient. The area the position Jesus says "enable him who's without sin forged the first stone" is rather reliable, alongside with "decide no longer lest ye also be judged" and "inspite of the truth that I particularly have self belief to flow mountains, if I particularly have not charity..." . properly, i visit't quote those such issues as a reliable preacher could, yet there is a few truly marvelous stuff in there. only no longer truly sufficient for cutting-part human beings. The Bible could properly be a reliable historic source, besides the undeniable fact that it is not the historic source. it isn't an particularly reliable technology textual content in any respect. you won't be able to study Math by technique of searching on the numbers contained in the Bible that do not upload up suitable, nor are you able to set up the perfect destiny of our global by technique of searching at biblical prophesies. it truly is as a lot as US. yet Jesus stated some reliable issues about how significant it truly is to renowned others--even (or fantastically) our "enemies"--the individuals we've the hardest time respecting. That Jesus became a good guy! yet for an finished training, different books (and different reports) are needed.

The bible is just a book that has everything in it for anyone to justify whatever lifestyle they choose to live. The same bible that the KKK used to justify their behavior is now used to preach equality of all. The same bible that kept women from leaving husbands that beat them is the same bible that say violence towards women and children is wrong. The same bible that says god loves all is the same bible that condemns most of the people who have lived to hell.

The modern relevance of the bible is whatever the reader interprets it to be.

--How can a book be timeless, when a few hundred years after the OT was written, it was decided they needed the NT to replace it. Timeless and true?? I bet that is what Moses said about his books.

The Bible is a collection of journals and letters, editted by people who wanted to remain in power. But truths remain. The only truths that matter are ones pertaining to how to conduct yourself. Matters of land ownership and sacred objects etc, are in opposition to the core message of all leading religion's masters, that of LOVE.
To know if a Biblical matter of conduct is true or not, simply ask (y)ourself "What if everyone did this?", if the outcome helps people, you know it is true.
But to answer, it's relevance has withered to nothing in pop culture because of the Catholic church's huuuuge mistakes made in trying to control women and money. Instead of simply spreading Christ's message, they went corporate.
Money truly is the root of all evil.
Capitalism is evil, as it profits from destroying the weak.

The relevance is that its God's word and it is timeless and truth. The language of the interpretation may become dated but the underlying truth is still there anyone who has studied it knows that with the added knowledge of the people and times it was written you can see the similarities to the problems of today and thus Gods answers to our problems.

Jesus' words will always be true.

example: Jesus said,

"If you do not forgive others, your father in Heaven will not forgive you."

This is the clearest verse in the Bible. Yet most people, and many Christians, feel they have a right to hold a grudge.

well you can talk about how christians have infiltrated the government. no person without "faith" is electable in this country. you can talk about how religious movements are wasting stem cells from aborted fetuses because its more ethical to abort a baby and dump it into a garbage can rather than use it for medical purposes. you can talk about how christians have kept the teachings of evolution out of many american schools for almost a hundred years since its been widely accepted as "proven".... hmm the list goes on i dont think 2 days is enough time.

let the thumbs down begin!

Take time to read The Bible. Without it the world would be totally lost. Being a Hindu, you might be converted.
