Hey! I'm thin and I love slim fast shakes. I've been drinking them for years now- even when I was a bit heavier. I drink them in the morning when I don't have time for breakfast or for a snack in the afternoon if I have to wait a while for lunch. I do agree that you have to have some will power because they really are not all that filling, but i used to buy the powder form and blend it with some soy milk and peanut butter for more protein; have that and a piece of fruit and you're good for a while. Remember-you should eat lots of small meals as opposed to two or three large meals, so if you take that into consideration you can make it work. If you want a shake that is great for losing weight look up this stuff called vital-18. It takes more will power than slim fast, but it is soooo worth it. I lost like 15lbs in 2 1/2 weeks on that stuff.

Slim Fast shakes do work. You will lose pounds at a steady rate if and only if you follow the Slim Fast plan. You can't have an extra shake or meal bar and say only this once or eat a burger and say the same. Try it for a week, watch the water weight go and start losing plans. Medifast is a better plan for losing weight, but is VERY expensive, and harder to stick to.

sort of? The formula for weight loss is simple: take it fewer calories than you burn.
So the shakes don't "do" anything other than provide something to help you feel full and provide needed nourishment which dieters are in desperate need of due to their self-restricted food intake.
If you drink the shake while eating a Big Mac, the shake is going to provide no benefit.
If you drink the shake and not a triple Venti Latte and a muffin the size of Rhode Island, you've just saved yourself from a huge number of calories. If you do that for a long enough period of time, you will begin to loose weight as your body seeks extra calories from what you have stored in body fat.
It takes discipline so continue to educate yourself, if you are seeking to loose weight, and don't chase after fad diets but instead look to what supports the body and reduce your caloric intake. Little changes can make a big difference over time.
Also, don't replace sugars with artificial sweeteners. The negative health effects of those can actually prevent weight loss according to published research. Just learn to not need all that extra sweetness.
Consider this, if you used to drink one can of soda a day, that's about 150 calories of pure sugar. That's 54,750 calories, you don't need, per year. One little change can add up. A few of those little changes can add up big.

The shakes "work" as long as you use them as intended with a proper diet. As far as diet help goes, I would need some more info. Is this to lose a couple of vanity pounds, is it due to health concerns, etc.
Regardless of your reason, you should always check with your doctor before starting a diet. Not only will they be able to do lab tests to see where you are at now, but based on results they can offer advice on what diet type would be most effective and beneficial to your health.
Also you need to consider exercise as part of your diet
I have tried it, and still use it from time to time as a substitute for meals :)
Please feel free to contact me as I can not only go over what the shakes do, but can help you figure out your diet strategy.

As a primary meal replacement, it doesn't work when it comes to hunger and appetite. When I drink even slowly on breakfast or lunch, those 200 (more or less) calories sound and feel great for one meal--when it comes to burning them down.. But at least two hours later (even though they say it'll "fill you up" for up to 4 hrs) I'm starting to feel a little hungry again. So I would suggest that, if you're really wanna go on a diet, one meal a day drink this meal replacement along with water and a healthy snack or dessert that will fill you up and contain up to 250 calories =).

Contrary to what everyone above me has said, it does work.
A friend of mine did it and she lots heaps of weight. The only thing is, it's not a great basis for weight loss, as you are not learning to eat properly. Also, you may find yourself very hungry, and strong willpower is required to avoid eating more than you should.
A good idea is to, instead of having the shakes for two or three meals, just have one shake a day, and eat a lot of yogurt, which is great if you want to lose weight.

Slim fast absolutely does not work for many reasons.
1-in the commercials it says results are not regular.
2-this diet can only succeed if you have a super strong will and eat nothing but that slimfast
3-can hold your hunger for 2 weeks.
Obviously those who are overweight have problems with eating and if they could controll their appetite would not need slimfast

They flavor solid, chocolate is the suitable. You drink a shake for breakfast and a shake for lunch and consume a small nutrition plan. Summed up, you starve all day, drop pounds, then benefit it back plus some given which you probably did no longer study the thank you to consume real first of all. do no longer hassle.

How many skinny people do you know of that drink Slim Fast? I thought so.....it is another way to milk people out of billions of dollars annually and still not cause weight loss. Proper nourishment in moderate quantities coupled with exercise is the way to go.

Do your grocery shopping with a list and an occasion limit; that way, you're not as likely to stray into the highly processed foods section.
