In excess, it can be bad for you. Too much of anything can be bad for the body. Only drink these in moderation.

Also, try to find alternative sources of energy like healthy carbs, friuts and veggies.

They are bad in the sense that people say all carbonated beverages and high amountsof caffeine are bad for you. You don't need to drink energy drinks fast in order to stay awake. Drink them gradually and you will gradually become more alert until some point is reached where the caffeine starts to leave your system. I just drank a large can of monster energy drink last night over a period of an hour and it kept me perfectly alert to study for some midterms I am having today. Drinking large amounts of caffeine every day over a long period of times is bad for you though. That goes for people who drink more than a 16oz cup of coffee a day which is alot of us. Energy drinks have way more caffeine than that. But if you drink it every once in a while it is okay. Even one ciggerette every year doesn't give you cancer remember.

The jury is still out on that one, but I'm sure that they are ok as long as you don't use them to an excess.
