He explicitly lied to Adam and Eve about the fruit of the tree of knowledge. He told them they would die if they ate it. Obviously, it gave them knowledge (if you believe such tales) but it didn't kill them.
A simple, straightforward lie from god.

I thought they were cast out of the garden of eden to have children...don't remember them dying from eating the apple. I'm quite sure they didn't.
In fact, they are supposed to have lived good, long lives.
Oh well....

God did not say any of that..He just give one rule that no one is to eat the fruit from the tree of knowledge and stop at there. It because of the curiosity of the Adam and Eve and satan plays its part that made them eat the fruit.
The curiosity of what will happen to them if they eat the fruit that they were banished from heaven.
I wonder where you screwed up people get your information from!! haiz...
Added: They did not die but were punished by GOD and sent to earth....

They ate the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
If Adam and Eve are still alive Please tell the world where they live they can answer a bunch of questions.
They did die. If someone eats something with poison in it they may live a while before you die.
Less then 1000 yrs is nothing compared to eternity they would be living had they not sinned.

Was Adam and Eve STILL ALIVE TODAY?? They're dead now, obviously. So, did God lie?
Dont cut the phrase, dude. It should be tree of 'knowledge OF GOOD AND EVIL'. After eating (disobeying God) they now knew not only how God is good to them..but also how the result of the evil wrecked the planet earth. We know now what evil is, right?
Read at least the whole account (context).
on the other hand, when Rahab (the prostitute) were asked by the soldiers where were the spies from the Israel are, she pointed them the other way. Was she lying?? my opinion..she's saving the lives of the two men..and for me its not lying..just my personal opinion. okies?? :)

It wasn't in the flesh that they died. Read the parts before and after this part of the Bible and inform yourself as to what he intended for them in the first place. But if you already think God is a joke, you possibly won't open your eyes or mind enough to understand what He meant. Instead of spending your time trying to discredit God, maybe you should do something else with your time. Like read a Good Book!! Or find some questions that people need answered on Answers! that you might be able to help with. Who knows, you might have the answer they need!

Good point. I don't really have any unique take on the "can God lie" dilemma, but I hope to read some interesting answers to your question. But again, I'm sure the Christians will figure some way around this by twisting their "holy book". That, or make some excuse.

So then Adam and Eve are alive today? They did die, they would have attained eternal life on earth had they refrained from eating from the tree. They did eat, and one of their consequences was mortality. So they did in fact die, they just didn't drop dead the moment they ate it.

If you mean what he said in the bible... technically, it is politically correct. Adam and Eve supposed to be having external life. After they ate the apple, the are subjected to death.
By the way, if the Christians died and gone to heaven, will the tree be there?

God is perfect. He cant lie if he is perfect. He is also Just and Holy.
When God said that they would die he was talking about a spiritual death, because they ate it, they sinned, they deserved death because the punishement for sin is spiritual death, aka hell. They also would have originally lived forever physically if they had not eaten of the fruit.

First, who told you that it was an apple.Second, they most certainly did die. They were created to live forever but when they ate the forbidden fruit they died spiritually & then they died physically later on.Read Genesis 5.By the way,the number 5 in the Bible is the number of death.
