My 13 year old son has an AEG and two spring pistols.
I taught him that he was only to use them, or even TAKE them into specific areas, his bedroom and our backyard, that he was not to shoot without shooting glasses, was not to point or shoot the guns at animals or people, and that he was only to shoot at approved targets, (cans, paper targets, airsoft indoor targets).
I gave him his first when he was 12. He wanted them bad enough to obey the rules I lay down concerning them, and has learned a great deal about firearms safety and responsibility from having them, while causing no injury, damage, or problems with them. As long as eye protection is used, they are incapible of causing any real injury, even at close ranges. I've shot myself in the leg with one to gauge it's injury potential. It left a welp that stung for a good two minutes, and vanished entirely within 10 minutes. That was with a 300+fps pistol onto a bluejeans covered thigh at a distance of about six inches. Not exactly a deadly weapon.
If your son can follow the rules,
You ought to at least consider it.
You can always throw it away if he isn't responsible with it.
A kid who learns how to be safe and responsible with such things
becomes less of a potential danger to himself and others.

Look, I want to be straight forward with you. Any gun can be dangerous without the proper training. I can tell you this because I have been trained using the methods developed by the NRA to train the proper way to handle and use firearms for the Boy Scouts. The Boy Scouts offer training programs for Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. I have trained Cub Scouts as young as 6, or 7, but under strict adult supervision. I urge you to talk to your parents and ask them to check into the shooting programs of the Boy Scouts. If you aren't a Boy Scout I would like you to consider joining. You will learn many skills you can use in later life. You can also earn a badge in firearms and firearm safety and I am sure if you and your parents would attend gun safety training with the Scouts they might relent and let you have this pistol and in being in the Scouts you will have fun with other young men your age as you learn and will make valuable friendships. You will also qualify for certain scholarships for college. Some which are not available to non Scouts. This is especially true of those young men who attain the rank of Eagle Scout. I hope this helped and I wish you good luck.

it depends what u do with it if u shoot people in the eye then yes their dangerous but so are scissors if you throw them at people, if ur intelligent enough to not be reckless and it wont be a problem, i have a couple of airsoft guns and me and my friends play with em just like paintball but we wear glasses so no one gets shot in the eye, really that is the only danger, that and the fact that if the guns powerful enough you can put a hole through a pop can from point blank so dont press the gun against someone and fire

oh ya and i dont think ur guns sposed to b firin at 355 fps

I was an avid paintballer at 12 years old. I think alot of your question depends on the 13 year old kid in question. Is he responsable? can he use it in a safe manner? does he know the dangers of not using it safely?
additionally my best friend was 12 and 3rd in Canada for 12-16 year old marksmanship. YES REAL GUNS. that being said as a FAC holder myself I would let my kid have one provided he was taught the rules and saftey reulations first

Haha....I'm 22, and I think they're dangerous for me, let alone my real guns...you suppose to be 18+ to have one of those lil' guy

My paintball gun shoots at 320 fps, which 100% illegal :)

Also the gun looks somewhat real, pointing it at say a cop or god forbid someone sees you with it will call the cops. You should wait, or have parents be supervising you at all times.

I know you didnt want to hear this, but I'm telling you what I think

they are dangerous for everyone if you are not safe, but you can tell them if you will always wear eye protection and you promise to be safe with them, maybe they will let u hav one. I think by 13 though a kid should be able to have an airsoft gun.
