Pat your hair with a towel instead of rubbing it. Your hair is very fragile when it's wet.

I have read several articles that said the same thing. Do not rub your hair with a towel as it roughens the cuticle of the hair which can cause damage to the hair. It said to wrap your hair with the towel and squeeze gently. One article said that using a cotton knit t-shirt was even better as it was smoother than the towel. Even combing and brushing the hair when wet is damaging.

Yes! That is the best thing to do with your hair. Dry It as much with a towel as possible.

...I think to wrap it around and do your business until you are ready to deal with your hair is OK...but I think rubbing a towel through wet hair is a big NO NO...cotton can pull out pieces of hair and that adds to the tangle factor...at least pat and squeeze hair with the towel or blot it instead of rubbing...

towel dry / air dry is best for your hair
even blow drying can damage, towel dry as much as you can, then brush it well and let it dry on its own, your hair will be loads healthier and silkier
