I just found myself in the same situation on sunday. My hair turned out A LOT darker than i wanted and looks out of place on me. I've been going the dishsoap route twice a day and following it with Cholesterol cream. It's stripped out some of the color. If you have the cash a salon would be the best way but if your like me (aka poor college student) I'd try the dishsoap to strip out some color then dye it again later. Just remember...color won't make color lighter (unless you bleach it, which i'm thinking of trying)

Well you could try laundry detergent, the type you wash clothes with, but may damage hair. If I decided to go this route I would have some good conditioner on hand to use after shampooing. You might also try a Malibu Treatment. Should be able to purchase at a salon. If that isn't the answer you can try a color remover. If that does not work the only thing I see left to do is to go to a salon and tell them you are unsatisfied with your dye job and want to go back to original color. I am sure that if all else fails the salon can help you. I really don't think the Malibu treatment will harm your hair, but not sure about the laundry detergent or dish soap suggestions. They seem pretty harsh to me.

Yea dawn dish soap is what I have used before to fade out the black dye. Works pretty good, just took a lot of washing it in that.

I did the samething a couple of years ago, and I wasn't happy with it either. The only thing that I found that worked was, wait, or go to a professional and they might be able to help you. Since it is black, there really isn't anything "over the counter" that works to fade it, or change the color.

wash your hair a few times with liquid dishwasher soap...NOT the stuff you put in the dishwasher, but the stuff you use to handwash the dishes...like dawn or something...i had pink streaks put in my hair once and i tried this and it works really well

don't wash your hair with dish washing liquid! the chemicals are far too harsh and will destroy your hair. instead, one n' only colorfix using the partial color correction method. this product doesn't contain any bleach, either.
