If you see his left turn signal on and you're 100'-200' away approaching the big rig you should when its safe to change lanes to allow him to enter lane or if traffic is too congested behind you, slow down flash your high beams on and off and allow him to enter if its possible and the driver is moving along the shoulder to enter at a safe speed. Remember being courteous to the big rig driver can prevent impatient drivers from causing serious accidents.

If you are beside the truck just keep on driving but keep an eye on it if it movies towards you use your horn, If you are you are behind it you should slow down and give it right of way,but only if it is safe to remember how pissed off you git when someone cuts you off, this is the same for truck drivers when thy need two lanes to make a turn.

As long as it is safe , move over a lane . The truck driver will not pull out in front of you but he is letting you know that when it is safe for him he plans on merging into traffic. I know it use to be scarey for me also until I became a truck driver too . These people are professionals and that's what they do, they take everyone and everything into safety concideration .You definetly need to worry about cars more.

First of all, you should be following traffic about 6 to 8 seconds back and scanning well ahead, knowing who is beside you, and behind you.
This would give you time and space to make a quick left lane change, speeding up if necessary.
We all encounter emergency or unforeseen situations. Hopefully you are using defensive driving techniques to prevent most dangerous situations.
We all have skill, and we all have talent, but we all lack self discipline.................

Hit your HORN (that's what it's for) and accelerate or brake to get out of the way. If the road is clear, AND YOU CAN SEE THAT IT IS CLEAR, move over a bit for it.
If you got into this situation to start with then you weren't giving the road enough attention, were you.
