So I want to buy this 01' Ford Explorer, but the problem is that it doesnt come with a stereo. I have one but it is way smaller than the slot. What should I do? Is there something that acts like a filler?

Yes there is. Go to Autozone or any big chain auto store and go to the stereo section. There will be adaptors for aftermarket stereo decks to fit into those big spaces were the old radio used to be. Your Ford Explorer is very common and there will be a correct adaptor for you. Just look at the package and see if it falls on your year truck. The intructions are very easy to follow so it shouldnt be a big hassle. While your there, get the wire harness adaptor for your explorer. It will plug in into the factory plug and u just have to splice the wire adaptor to the wires from your stereo deck.

I'm not sure how big the spot for the stereo for an explorer is but you might need a double din car stereo, or you can install a nice dvd player with a 7" screen in that place.

I have a double din spot in my stealth, but my car came with 1 cd player and 1 equalizer and i have the rack for it... al i had to do is take the stock cd player out and put the new one in

If you go to any place that sells car audio, there are kits that you can use to fill in the space. it's a car stereo adapter that's basically a sleeve that you put your head unit into to put into the factory slot. manufacturers also make stereos (larger head units) that will fit into the factory sized slot without any modifications. Take a look and decide what you like.

Go to local auto zone or car acc. stores and ask, I have seen them out there and it was at one of those. Good luck.
