This war resolved a great issue, though it took several years to seep through. It was a necessary war, however brutal, pitting family against family It's success was the eventual unification of our United States. Look at us, the greatest nation in the world. Was it successful? Are we united? Are our differences of opinion respected among us? The ultimate success of this war is continually heard around the world. It worked. And we are the beneficiaries.

This might sound a little radical...but I believe the American civil war was God's judgement of our country for allowing slavery and the persecution of native-americans to continue for so long.

Many voices rose up and warned of the coming catastrophe, but as it is today....leaders were too afraid or too concerned with money and power to do the right thing.

A tragedy. A lot of Americans were Killed.

The only success was that the country stayed together.

I wonder why we truly had the war, was it really for such a noble cause?... to end slavery... that is the most noble thing i have ever heard of.... that is why i dont believe it...... yes it freed the blacks,,, and now we cant seem to integrate them into our culture (or they wont integrate) either way i am baffled at the problem,,,, Wishing for a solution,,,,,

The combatants that were on the morally correct side won and slavery, an abomination and a very negative part of human history, was on the way out worldwide. Besides, if the south had won we might all be talking like that!
