No need to be nervous - you will unfortunately find racists everywhere, but generally speaking I think Australians are laidback and welcoming, so you should be fine!!
And not to sound racist, but I think there is a worse attitude towards Asians & Lebanese than Indians, so you dont have anything to worry about. Especially being in Brisbane... everyone jokes they're a little slow up there, so they'll be too busy defending themselves to be rude to you :) haha!
Just get to know the customs and you will have a great stay in Brisbane! It's beautiful there, have fun!

no not true, we are very friendly. Currently we are just finishing summer the temp is about 95 deg., with a warm wind blowing. We are in drought and have been for a long time. Brisbane is like a big country town rather than a capitol city. It is built on the banks of the Brisbane river. The night life is good, the pubs and clubs very relaxed. Check out www.ourbrisbane.com.au also www.queenslandholidays.com.au. Both sites will give you a lot of info. There is something for everyone here. I love it. Queensland, beautiful one day, perfect the next.

Australians don't worry about Indians, the subcontinental or Native American kind. There are lots of subcontinental Indians where I work and they are good.
Australians are not rude, but they can be direct. Don't judge any nation by the people on chat rooms. Most of them are teenagers and teenagers suck, or at least that's what somebody I know says.

dont worry about it mate. we are actually a pretty friendly group - but like all countries there will always be some level of racism.
there is not as much racism against american indians as there are against some other cultures anyway. most problems seem to be against muslims, indians (from india, not USA), and aboriginals, but this is not as widespread as people may think. this seems to happen in the bigger places where some groups of people tend to gather and live in groups which can create some racial tension.
brisbane is not a bad place to visit. qld'ers in general seem to be a bit more laid back than people in sydney. the sunshine and gold coasts are very big tourist destinations, so they know how to treat their visitors.
come over to our lovely country and have a good time. do not be nervous. most of us will be friendly and charming!!!

erm we don't hate ya. ok i'm gonna explain something here n u have to listen carefully (or read carefully...wateva) We Aussies have a dry sense of humour. it is very sarcastic. we like to pay each other out and don't take offence to it coz we understand it's just mates having a laugh. foreigners can take our jokes seriously so maybe that's y u thought the Aussies were being rude in the chat room...

I work with quite a few Indians, they are great people. There is a large Indian community here in Sydney and they are well liked. Of course there are a few idiots but you get them anywhere.

I'm not rude and I don't not like Indians.
So long as you can speak English and know how to smile, you will be happy in Brisbane, or anywhere in Australia for that matter.
Don't be nervous. Aussies are very nice. Trust me, I am one!

You have no reason to be nervous.
It will be a big change for you coming to another country but you've made a good choice.
If you treat us well, we'll treat you the same way.
So get ready to make some great new friends in a wonderful country.
I'm sure you'll love Queensland.
May I extend a welcome to you and wish you well.
