We are doing a Civil War project at school, and we need a recipe for homemade honey. When supplies were lacking, women would substitute sugar for honey. Does anybody know how to make homemade honey? If you do, please answer. Listing the recipe /ingredients/materials would be great, as we have to demonstrate how to make this stuff, and if possible, please post any recipes that do not include sugar, though I imagine almost all will.

Thank you!

Oh my, oh my. People do not seem to understand my question :). What I was asking was how do you prepare artificial honey, but I have already found the answer as I have told you. Artificial honey is made from alum, and even though not really honey, it is labeled as such because it tastes almost exactly the same.

I think you are a little confused. In the Civil War (and other times in history where sugar was in short supply) people used honey instead of sugar.

It is produced by bees from the nectar of flowers. If you are realy bent on makeing the stuff, then collect the nectar from about twenty thousand flowers. Mix this with your saliva and incase it in small containers of bbes wax. Let is stand for a few months for the moisture to seep out and there you have it, a couple tablespoons of honey.

Perhaps you should look into a recipe that calls for honey instead of sugar. This should be alot easier

Bees make honey, but you could probably make a sweet syrup that tastes like honey. Here is one that I found on the internet.
Made from Scratch Pancake Syrup

Make your own pancake syrup right at home! You probably have all the ingredient on hand! This would make a nice gift, with some pancake mix, a spatula, and maybe a frying pan in a basket. Just a thought.

Makes 3 1/2 pints in 25 min with 10 min prep time
3 cups water
3 cups granulated sugar
3 cups brown sugar
1 cup corn syrup
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon vanilla
1 tablespoon maple flavoring
You could cut down on the amount of ingredients. Just use the recipe as a guide.
Combine the first 4 ingredients in a large saucepan.
Stir on medium high heat until it boils. Add the lemon juice, vanilla and maple flavoring. Stir.

Honey is obviously made by honey bees. These little critters fly to millions of flowers, gathering tiny droplets of nectar from the flowers. This is nature's way of attracting insects to the flower bloom to spread pollen to other flowers which in turn produces seeds. The bees return to the hive and convert the nectar by enzyme processes into honey. The bees need the honey as their only source of carbohydrates, or energy food. The honey is stored in wax combs which the bees also make for themselves.

You can just buy honey. If you need recipes, Google for some.

Pople don't make honey, Bee's do. what you do is to go to the hive and use some sort of smoke and get the bees out, then you take out the comb and then the honey will run into jars. You can also put the comb in the jars along with the honey. this honey is really good.

I've never used aspirin for home made facial masks, although I've seen them before. From the sites that I've read, you have to crush those pills. Other than that, a honey mask by itself works fine.

You need a bee hive to "make" "homemade" honey. I would suggest getting a bee suit and a smoker to help you in this endevor. You guys should probably just take a field trip to a local bee keepers operation.
