No way! As long as you can pass the physical part of it you are just as capable as any other person to become a corrections officer. Make sure you can stand your ground because some people might not take you seriously, but if you show them who's boss and stay tough, you will do great.

Good luck!

I can only answer about Canadian Corrections, but truthfully, you use your intellect mind more than physical body in day to day operations. You have to be able to talk in any situation, as well as be convincing and pursuasive in just about every thing you do. You will always be partnered up, and that means if you need to take someone down, or cut down a hanging body or drag a body across the compound, you will never do it alone. I say go for it. Be confident and sure of yourself. If you doubt yourself now, you will set yourself up for failure. Good luck.

You could be a lot of things, what are the requirements? Before I put to much time into what you are asking check with the State, Federal, and Private Correction facilities. This may differ from one state to another and from private to another private prison.

Not if you don't mind getting pushed around. Can you handle yourself? I am in judo training and find it useful if I was ever to be in a compromising situation. However, I work in a corporate environment and am much larger than you are. It might be a good idea to know some defense techniques.

Unless you are a martial arts expert, I would not hold out much hope for a job in corrections.
