They gave part of my refund but say it's being reviewed and will mail notice requesting for additional information. There was no error message just gave part of refund. Gave info stating to please read following information related to my tax situation which had: look at tax topic 151, Your Appeal Rights

The IRS does random audits in regards to earned income credit, extra money you get for having a child(ren) when income is below a certain level. If this is the case you will be asked to provide all kinds of records showing proof that the child(ren) is in your home. Also, if this is the case you will need to do an 8862 next year when filing your taxes. GL

It's saying that there's a question about something on your return, and they're going to send you a letter asking for some specific info about whatever they're questioning. When you get the letter, be sure to respond well before the deadline that it shows.

Agreed. You're being audited. They say audits are 'random', but in some cases, they audit you if they think you're committing tax fraud, such as claiming children you shouldn't, etc. For some reason, they want proof of something you claimed to be true. No biggie, if you have the supporting documentation.
