Mead is alive and well. Most larger beverage stores will have Chaucer's, though it is generally considered to be barely worth drinking. Avoid.

Your best bet is to find a nearby meadery, or order online if none are really nearby. I like Rabbit's Foot Meadery in Sunnyvale, CA.

Check the sources below for a list of US meaderies. Also consider making your own--it's really quite easy to make surprisingly high quality mead. A recipe called "Joe's Ancient Orange" is the perfect starter. Link below. -m

Here in Pennsylvania, the state-owned stores carry Bunratty, an Irish-made mead. If you can get it in a nanny-state like mine, you should be able to get it ANYWHERE!

Honey Brown. It is fairly cheap and is a great honey mead. You can probably find it as a local grocery store (they sell it at Dillon's here).
