at our humane society we tell the owners who cant afford flea meds to place several teaspoons of apple cider vinigar in the water bowl each day. it really works and the animals dont mind (kittens puppies all of them) it is cheap and works great, no soaking or shaking it out, the smell that comes through the skin isnt noticable to us but it is for the fleas. and if you dog is allergic to them you need to take action quick, this can cause a dropin the immune system and he can get sick very easily

im no expert but try putting some peppermint scented oil and put garlic juice in your doggies shampoo. also put it in the brush. garlic is a natural flea repellant.

Not sure, but you can use baby shampoo on your dog, it keeps fleas off. I used it on my german shepard all last summer and she did not have any fleas.
