metronidazole is an antibiotic that kills bacteria such as vaginosis(very common for women who are childbearing age and anyone can get it at any age.), which is also a form of gardenella any man/woman gets its and it's unknown why the bacteria grows. Also, I've used to it for a patient who had really bad diarrhea and it helped her diarrhea balance out. It comes in a gel or a pill form. It's used to kill anaerobes, meaning they live and grow with or without oxygen too as well as parasites.
