It is an antibiotic that is effective against anaerobic bacteria and parasites. Commonly it used for vaginal infections, giardia, and diarrhea caused by the bacteria C. difficile.

metronidazole is an antibiotic that kills bacteria such as vaginosis(very common for women who are childbearing age and anyone can get it at any age.), which is also a form of gardenella any man/woman gets its and it's unknown why the bacteria grows. Also, I've used to it for a patient who had really bad diarrhea and it helped her diarrhea balance out. It comes in a gel or a pill form. It's used to kill anaerobes, meaning they live and grow with or without oxygen too as well as parasites.

I have Crohns and this is 1 of the drugs that I was prescribed. It is an antibiotic.

i have crohns disease and the dr prescribed it to me to fight the bacteria off that my body doesnt fight off!
