What is the French equivalent for "lol"? what do each of the letters stand for?

I lived in france for most of my life and the equivalent for "lol" is " mdr" which stands for Mort De Rire
which literally means "Dead by laughter" lol

Forza is 100% right for MDR!

LoL can also means lots of laught, that you can translate in french by "Beaucoup de Rire" but we never say that, we really say MDR!
