I took it upon myself 2 summer ago to memorize the Qur'an. This did not change my religious beliefs (I am Catholic), but now I am able to, if there is such a situation, quote Qur'anic ayas in both languages to state the point. Some people think that I am mocking both my religion and Islam because I have studied Islam and did not convert. Opinions?

And what are the views of non-Muslims being able to recite the Qur'an? Are there many? Is this considered disrespectful to their religion as well as Isalm?

I'm a catholic american living in saudi arabia, although i go to school in the states. Ignore those people. They don't understand either religion, most of all Islam. I'm proud of you for that because you are attempting to understand what most people criticize without understanding. I wish more people would try to be a little more like you and a little less ignorant. Now, if you were depicting the prophet or things like that, that would be different. I, no offense to all, value my opinion on this topic a little more than devout catholics or devout muslims because i know a lot about BOTH religions. My best friend is muslim and her parents are devout. Don't worry about what other people tell you. YOu've memorized the qur' an, I think you would know if it said anything bad about what you're doing. You know more about it than they do so don't worry about it.

I am a Muslim my self. I respect the fact you made an attempt to read and memorize the Qur'an. However my dear friend, Just reading and memorizing the Qur'an will not convert one person. You should know of what you read. Look at the big picture, you'll see that islam makes a lot of sense. A lot of things in Qur'an is already proven of what has been discovered now.

In Sydney, Australia there are trees that grown from the ground spelling out the Shihada. My Aunt cooked roti one day and Allah in Arabic appeared on the roti. Everything that is happening in the world is already told it will happen in the Qur'an more then 1400 years ago. As Muslims we believe the first testament of the bible. At one point Christians use to be much like Muslims and practice how we do things. It's now that there are no restrictions or people don't follow what should be followed, and they call us strict?

In Turkey, there was disastrous earth quake everything in existent was demolished .but in the centre was a Mosque still standing and nothing happened to it at all.

Why is that islam is the fastest growing religion in the world?

Think about it. May Allah guide you to the right path.

Salam Brother

I think it's wonderful that you have studied Islam, but even though you can recite the Qur'an, you are not allowed to interpret it and say what you think that things mean, because you may not understand things fully since you are not Muslim. There are many Muslims who would love have the ability to memorize the Qur'an (and many in their lifetime do). I see nothing wrong with you choosing to memorize it and I am not disrespected by that at all, but this is the first time that I have heard of anyone doing this.

Poetry grew to become right into a spoke of element of Arabic lifestyle there. There are poets suggested in the traditions approximately Mohammed (ahadith). Mohammed contributed to the oral lifestyle. He might have listened to poets and recitations. i think he had some poetic means himself. yet that doesn't advise right away he's a prophet. He carried out various poets, so would be unable to have theory poetry itself meant that a individual had divine revelation. it may nicely be an angel, yet i've got self assurance no longer one among God's angels: a million) in accordance to Sahih Bukhari (hadith) the angel bodily threatened Mohammed while he first encountered it 2) it contradicted God's revelation approximately His Saviour Christ, eg denying Jesus died on the go. 3) there are warnings in the epistles of the hot testomony that devil's angels will attempt and act as though they're God's angels for the very objective of deceiving adult males with fake revelations. that would advise a as a rule ethical message. something to end human beings trusting in God's Saviour, Christ - diverting them to a diverse obvious revelation and saying the Bible is corrupt might artwork a take care of. there have been additionally a lot of human beings adhering to Judaism in his section, and so he might have heard biblical thoughts, tricky thoughts from the Talmud, and different cloth. - so which you notice the Koran has very tricky thoughts, eg approximately Joseph, that are tricky yet pass over the countless key effortless factors in the Biblical text cloth - so which you notice Mohammed has little expertise of the hot testomony and new covenant. He did no longer understand who the Holy Spirit grew to become into, and muslims think of he's the two Mohammed or an angel. One verse in the Koran says the Trinity is God, Jesus and Mary.

That shows a tremendous amount of respect for our belief. I don't know of many people outside of the Islamic faith that are actually willing to READ a Qur'an, let alone memorize the whole thing. I only hope that it gave you a better understanding of what Islam truly stands for, and that you can look past stereotypes to our true nature of peacefulness.

I think it's great...knowledge is powerful. However, I find it hard to believe that you still don't see the truth! God shows the path to whomever he wills, so keep reading with an open heart, and reflect about each ayah, and I hope that insha-Allah one day Allah will open your heart! I'm telling you, when it happens, it hits you like a ton of bricks! It's like there's a block removed from your heart, and you now see things clearly!

maybe you are one of those people that God has talked about them on the Quran:

[199] And there are, certainly, among the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians), those who believe in Allâh and in that which has been revealed to you, and in that which has been revealed to them, humbling themselves before Allâh. They do not sell the Verses of Allâh for a little price, for them is a reward with their Lord. Surely, Allâh is Swift in account.

I would not be offended at all. In fact, I would take it as a great sign of respect that someone from another faith cares enough about my faith to memorize the holy book.
