Allergies At This Time of Year?

I can't tell if i have a cold or allergies right now. I do have spring time allergies but it usually doesn't start until later than this. Is it possible that they are kicking in early this year? I live in Chicago by the way.

I will just list my symptoms in case that helps. I have a soar throat, stuffed up nose and ear, also sinus pressure.

I'm thinking you picked up a virus. I have the exact same thing right now and it's pretty miserable. If you have some Zicam, you should start that to help decrease the severity of the cold. Drink plenty of fluids. Stay warm. Drink fruit juice with Vit C, followed by plain water so your throat doesn't get more irritated. Use a cool mist vaporizer at night, or put some pots of water near your heat vents to moisturize the room.

If you can tolerate sudafed, that will help with the stuffed up nose and ear. I'm putting warm soaks on the sinuses, followed by cool compresses, to help drain the sinuses. Gargle with 1/4 tsp salt in a cup of warm water.

I normally have Spring allergies too, but because of this dry, cold weather in the mid-west, am pretty sure this is a rhinovirus.

These are sinus symptoms not allergy symptoms. Use a decongestent like Sudafed and take pain medicine for the sore throat.
