I've tried pedialite (I think thats how it's spelled) and gatorade, he dislikes them both. Are there any suggestions about feeding him solid food that can help?

Gerber makes a drink called LiquidLyte that replenishes the body's electrolytes just like Gatorade and Pedialyte. I've tasted all three drinks myself, and personally I think LiquidLyte tastes much better than the other two alternatives. Try sticking a bottle in the freezer for a few minutes so that it develops a slushy consistency (like a slurpee) and try offering this to your toddler. Since most toddler don't normally eat slushies, your toddler may view this as a special treat and be more willing to try it. My son recently discovered that he loves Ice pops, so I've also taken LiquidLyte and made them into "ice pops" to have on hand when he is sick. Since Ice pops are a fun treat, he'll be less likely to reject the LiquidLyte icees, even if the taste is different.

As for food, you are best to stick with light, bland foods. My pediatrician recommends that BRAT diet: bananas, rice (white), applesauce, and toast. I follow this for myself as well when I'm sick, and it usually does the trick.

The key with combatting diarrhea is to keep your toddler hydrated, so I would be more concerned with him/her keeping liquids down than I would be about food at first. The appetite will pick back up once your toddler begins to feel a bit better.

The first thing you have to give a toddler with diarrhea is pedilite which is a substitute for milk or juice, second you did not state why the baby has diarrhea. A child who has diarrhea have it for different reasons. right now I can only tell you an example. My grandson had diarhea last week, he is 4 years old, I started giving him pedilite instead of juice also alot of water to clean out his system. As for solid food, while he or she has diarrhea do not give greasy foods. Soups, soft eggs, light foods until the stomach clears out. Chances are he or she has a stomach virus.

Good Luck

Pedialyte is usually pretty good. Gatorade and similar sport's drinks usually have a lot of sugar which can actually make diarrhea worse. Pedialyte also makes popcycles and stuff that are more appealing to toddlers. If it's really bad for a while though, make sure to check with your child's pediatritian that it isn't anything serious.

Pedialyte, get the Popsicles if the child doesn't like the liquid
It is important to make sure your child doesn't get dehydrated that happens with diarrhea, vomiting.
i just went through that with all three of my children
literally within 3 days. my youngest was the worst he had to get an IV. try not to let it get that far. also check for a fever every 3 hrs see if your child would eat a piece of toast or a cracker don't force feed just make sure you give plenty of clear fluids. ginger ail is good too
good luck and if it gets too bad call the pediatrician or go to the ER

My son had diarrhea for nearly four months straight just after he turned 1. We finally figured out that it was due to him being lactose intolerant, but during that time our doctor gave us tons of different things to try. Pedialyte isn't to help diarrhea, it is just to help the child from becoming dehydrated since the diarrhea is taking away alot of his/her fluids. Yogurt is a great solid that helps reduce diarrhea. Meanwhile, since your toddler doesn't like pedialyte, make sure he/she is getting extra fluids in any form! Dehydration will only add to his/her problems.
