LOL like I've been telling people. Please trust me on this one. Please don't buy any commercial food. That means food that is widely popular that is sold in groceries and popular pet stores. They contain ingredients that aren't healthy for your cat. Any foods that contain soy, wheat, corn, by-products, bha, bdt, exothyquin, or any other chemical preseravtives should be avoided at all costs. It does damage to your pet.

I recommend these brands for your cat.

Felidae www.canidae.com
Wellness www.omhpet.com/wellness
Innova Evo www.naturapet.com
Blue Buffalo www.bluebuff.com

Actually you can buy Blue Buffalo at PetSmart. Don't be alarmed by the prices of them. Even though they are a couple of dollars more, they are WAY better than any commercial food, and you'll notice the dramatic physical changes. Also there is less litter clean up, and it smells less foul.

I recommend mixing 25% wet food to improve taste, with 75% dry food, to clean their teeth, and to maintain less stool, and it keeps their stools firmer which is easier to clean up, and it smells less foul. Anyway, I hope this helped you out a lot.

These foods are sold at independent pet supplies, and I'm pretty sure you have a couple of them close to your house

You want your cat to be healthy and live a long life. I know you are a kid, but there are times where you have to take the cat's health into consideration and one of those times is when buying cat food. One of the things about cat foods is that most of the brands, even the known brands, and especially the brands that would be generic, contain ash and magnesium in them. These are really bad things for your cat. As your cat gets older these elements will collect in your cat's bladder and causee major problems. So, it is better to spend the money on the cat food, buy Iams or another healthy food, and have a healthy cat that will live a long life without a lot of vet bills.

Iams canned cat food costs $7.50 for a pack of 12. That's not bad. I feed my 9 yr old cat 1 can of Iams a day. I only give him dry food as a treat. But Purina One is also a good brand - or so I hear. Iams or Purina One - both are good. Don't buy the store brands. The best diet for your cat is a wet canned cat food diet with dry kibble now and again. Why? well think about what cats wil normally eat: mice right? Cats get both their protein and water eating mice. Canned cat food provides a cat's need for both protein and water. Dry cat food not only has too much carbohydrates (makes kitty fat), it does not provide the cat's need for water. And cats are notriously lazy drinkers.

I raised my 8 week old kitten on Purina Cat Chow. He is huge and healthy now and a really good hunter. He is now 5 and he has never had any medical complications whatsoever (except when he picked a fight with a racoon). His coat is shiny and beautiful, and his eyes clear. I would highly recommend Purina if you would like to stay on a budget. I look for deals, and have found the huge 12 lb bag for as little as 6 dollars. One note, don't get the one for indoor cats, even if they're indoor...I tried it and his coat became dull...I just feed him regular Purina Cat Chow!

Re: canned food. My cat is too picky and wastes it so 2 times a month I cook a piece of chicken and give it to him a little each day. He loves it for a treat. Also I change his water almost every day...he doesnt like water that's been standing.

Well, I buy Hill's Science Diet for my cats, and that is even pretty affordable. The problem with most cat foods that are cheaper is that they will put really gross stuff in them. A recent study found that store brand foods will even put the meat of other euthanized cats and dogs in the food!!! So i definitely recommend getting Iams or any of the other foods you find at pet stores and pet smart. Don't get any of the cheaper brands. Iams would be the best bang for your buck because they have pretty large bags of food for a lesser price, but with a high quality of food. Just make sure you don't get crappy food for them, because they don't need to eat their friends or the poop of other animals.

Iams is good. That's what all my family members feed their cats, and most of the cats lived to about 15-20 years old. the store brands are cheaper, but not as much cheaper as they look because the cats seem to need to eat more of it. I feed mostly dry kibble and give canned food once in awhile.

Store Brand is sometimes good. I think Fancy Feast cat food is bad for your cat. But cheap is not always good. I think the higher the price, the better it is.

I've heard Nutro was really good and was recommended by 4/5 people when I asked fellow cat owners on a cat forum. It costs a bit more than your average by-product filled cat foods like Whiskas and such, but its better and my cats love it. Since switching to Nutro, they actually wake me up in the morning by gently pawing my hands and face so I'll get up and feed them.

neither! both are absolute crap and contain animal by-products (beaks of birds, etc.. things that are not fit for human consumption). try Natural Balance, petco sells it. it costs a few dollars more than store-brand, but you'll pay less in vet bills later.
