yes. They also can have psuedopregnancies, where it seems like they are pregnant (to the point of actually swelling with milk) but never had any pups growing inside.

Yes, Dogs can have miscarriages, and they can frequently have still born pups. My puppy and her brother were the only survivors of a litter of seven.

The mother dog developed an infection during pregnancy and had many complications during delivery. The puppies were various sizes, only the smallest pups survived.

Age may also be a factor the mother dog was seven and this was the only litter that she has delivered. The mother never recovered from the pregnancy, however the two puppies have been remarkable healthy.
