This is becoming more and more common. The man usually wears what the groomsmen are wearing, but stands on the bride's side. This is perfectly acceptable when you have a close friend/relative who you would like to be on our side. Typically he will not be called a bridesmaid though. In this case the program might read, "Groom's attendants (then name the Groomsmen) Best Man (Name him); Bride's attendants (then name the bridesmaids and man who is standing on the bride's side) Maid of Honor. If he is standing closest to you, he is called the Man of Honor (instead of Maid of Honor).

You know it's not typical. Usually they would be a groomsman. But if you are friends with the bride and she wants you to be in the wedding as a bridesmaid, I say whatever. I think you would probably be an usher though.

All the magazines that I have read lately say that it's becoming more and more common for there to be "Bridesmen" and "Groomswomen". Some even have "Men of Honor" and such. It's just fine the have a guy as a bridesmaid, if that is what you want. Go for it!

People get married bungee jumping, or on the back of garbage trucks....so a male "bridesmaid" isn't so freaky...why not. I had one, so it's just fine by me LOL!
There was no way on earth my best male friend was being left out of the ceremony and there was no spot for him with the ushers. I had his boutinere made the same colour as the girls dresses.

Depending on whether he is just a 'bridesmaid' or in the honor position.
He is called the bride's attendant, the bride's honor attendant or the Man of Honor.

They're called bridal attendants, or even bridesmen.
They wear clothes that match the color scheme of the
other bridesmaids, but are basically a tux.
No, they don't wear dresses. At least not in your standard
wedding...

Its your wedding, you could have anyone in the wedding and wherever you wanted them to be. I actually wanted to have my best friend who is a guy on my side, but we aggreed that it might make him feel a little uncomfortable to be standing on the "girls" side so he is going to be a groomsman.

It is your wedding! Do what ever you want! Of course, in that case I wouldn't recommend getting married in a church, but with so many other options, why worry?

It might not be traditional but I dont see why not. As long as the bride wants you there.
