I have a son who is also 3 yrs and 6 months. It might be a stomach flu. Your son's stomach is being cleaned, just buy him pedialyte, and liquids with vitamin C. No milk, or junk food. Soups will also help. It's not normal, it may be something that he ate or a virus. But don't be alarm! My son has also got like this months ago. He had a virus in his stomach. The Doctor's advise lots of liquids so that he will not get dehydration. But I still recomend for you to take him to his Doctor or Pediatrician.

was it black when it started, or did it turn black after?
if you have been giving him pepto bismol this can turn his poop black. How long has he had diarreha? He may just have the flu, or it may be something that he ate that his body is tellling him to get rid of. You should take him to the hospital and find out if this has been going on for a while.
I hope he is ok!!!

Black could mean problems with ulcers - unusual for 3 years old,
but worth investigating.
TAKE HIM TO A DOCTOR.
At the very least, neither he nor you are having any fun.
At the very worst, well ...
TAKE HIM TO A DOCTOR.

ER - immediately. Dark stools can be a sign of internal bleeding. Also children dehydrate rapidly. Get him to the ER - NOW

The black stools could be from blood. You should seriously think about taking him to the ER.

CALL HIS PEDIATRICIAN. NOW! This isn't "normal". Black usually means blood in the stool. Make sure he isn't getting dehydrated by giving him plenty of Pedialyte.

Black is not good in diarrhea. Sometimes it indicates blood. See the doctor.
